"White masculinity isn’t a problem for america’s colleges, white masculinity is THE problem for america’s colleges"

... do we disagree with that statement? It's an interesting one, and intentionally inflammatory, but if one were to list all the problems within american college culture, privileged (usually white, although one can argue this is changing a little and her statement stereotypes) males misbehaving is pretty high on the list. When I was in Madison, Halloween weekend, or the local street parties would turn into drunken riots (with cars turned over and everything) because of (usually) white college males.

... a lot of colleges have been having serious problems with fraternities recently. Rape problems... racism problems... hazing problems... these fraternities are (usually) white males.

Her statement is intentionally inflammatory, and intentionally un-nuanced. But why would you call it "ignorant"?

^using that logic, white masculinity definitely isn't THE problem for American colleges either... it's actually been working quite well for 200+ years... the problem with colleges are all these uppity white chicks being allowed to form and voice their emotionally driven opinions... everything was going fine til that crap started...

Oh brother.....so your one of those who believes that I MUST BE BLACK to have experienced ANY kind of poor behavior by fellow human beings.....is that about right?? Perhaps this broad simply perceives that this problem exists and decided to air her feelings during OBama's WHITE GUILT will fix what ails us campaign!!!!!! you do realize that "any poor behavior by fellow human beings" is different than "black/white issue", right? Those are two separate concepts, yet you seem to conflate them and think since you've had bad things happen to you in life, you would know whether there's a "black/white issue" in the world?

You have your perspective on issues and well others have theirs, the BIG problem I have with her any MANY other blacks like her is they make ALL inclusive broad brush remarks about " white masculinity " being a problem on ALL college campuses not pointing to one glaring issue or another.
Here's a simple one for you to wrap your head around, ONLY when we as a society truly become BLIND to the skin color of those found guilty of transgression toward another will we then be able to move forward. LOL.....now see if I'd said the problem @ all US universities was Black Masculinity....then I'd be just as guilty of broad brushing as she IS.....the fact that I pointed out her color IS because that's the way THEY WANT IT. Unfortunately, I guess no one told her that blacks had been owning other blacks as slaves since the late 1600s. Even up until the conclusion of the Civil War. In some places, like New Orleans, black slave owners were something like 30% of the population (although I think the actual number was about 5% across the South).
And no, these were actual slave-holders. Not people buying the freedom of their relatives.

Oh, and the obliteration of the Huron? That came at the hands of the Iroquois. Likewise, it was the Iroquois that displaced the Algonquin from their native Delaware area, and fled to live among the Huron. Because if they stayed, they would have faced obliteration.

Oh, and I might add, Madame Saida has a PhD from the University of Michigan. You'd think she'd know history and stuff with all of that fancy-schmacy edumacation she's got. I guess they don't teach that kinda stuff for "prestigious" sociology degrees...
