I rarely post in a political thread, maybe 3 times at most since I have been on the boards.

Relax guys and gals and everyone in between, the USA is dead. It does not exist anymore and there is no point in wasting time defending something that's dead or trying to resurrect it. It is now everyone for themselves, stop fighting it. The new name of the game is to screw over anyone you can and take what you want, don't do it and you get left behind. Rest assured, they will be doing it to you!

Bruce Springsteen 1979 - Crowd waiting to buy tickets to what was for sure going to be a sold out show. They handed out a limited number of generic blue tickets to the first people there and tred to call out numbers to get real tickets. Problem was there were not enough blue tickets, they quickly gave up trying to call out numbers, and when people used a blue ticket to get to the box office - they didn't take away the blue ticket so people were selling their blue ticket or going through the line multiple times. I was right up front in the group that would get tickets after the blues were gone but that was never going to happen. We got a chant going as we were blocked from the door by riot squad police - yelling bogus blues! Bogus blues! And some tried to explain to the cops why something unfair was going on and got beat back with Billy clubs.

Then a light bulb went on in my head . If I wanted to go to the show I have to find myself a blue ticket. So I left the righteous deserving folks up front, went around where people were exiting the box office and bought a scalped blue ticket and walked past the mob and cops waving my blue ticket and bought my real ticket for the show.

Figure out a way to get ahead of others to get what you want or get your ass beat with a billy club. Figuratively speaking.

We actually camped in the parking lot night before ticket sale. Since I had a blue ticket I went through several times myself and scalped the tickets so I guess I saw the show for free. Show was actually underwhelming as the civic center was a hollow tin can.

Back in 84/85 when his born in the USA album/tour was big news, I remember the 7 straight sold-out shows at the meadowlands being in the news. I was taking a late-night flight from BOS to BWI that week, and we flew over the meadowlands and saw the post-show finally fireworks display. That was cool.

I was a fan back then, but once he turned political, I stopped paying attention to him.

Maybe a big to negative, Zito. We have had some bad presidents before and survived. We need to worry more about the first amendment than the second, for if the first falls the second will be in jeopardy. There is still hope that somewhere down the line we can get good ethical people running the government.

You know what forum this is, right?

It's the politics forum. If it upsets your delicate sensibilities, stick to the general discussion. BigGrin
