Can yall share a link to the agreement? I've not seen a legitimate one yet so haven't read it. Unlike pelosi I think you need to read it before passing or rejecting it.

no link but basically they have to sell almost all their yellow cake, allow inspections but we have to warn them a month in advance, store but not destroy centrifuges and we're giving them back all their money and lifting sanctions and stuff... Mellow

Pubes say it's a bad deal and they don't want to know the details, they'll make up their own.

Yes, in the entire history of the world diplomacy has never worked. I This One time this really bad guy went back on a deal and now we should only fight wars to solve issues.

This will lead to war. We didn't have to give Iran a damn thing.

Israel will take out the reactor facilities we said Iran could have and tell us to go spin on it.

It very well might. Just as an increasingly desperate Iran, continuallyhobbled by sanctions, mightresort to war to improve their lot.. I'm for trying something new, even if the result ends up in the same place

And, if Israel feels threatened, they should absolutely take the actions they perceive as necessary. No issue with that at all.

No they were kept at bay because all they could wage was a conventional war. Now that's not the case or atleast not in a few years from now.

And you feel this deal will allow them to do that but keeping the status quo and continuing the sanctions, with no international supervision, would not lead to a nuclear Iran?

They didn't let in the UN inspectors in the past time will tell if they do now. I would still put money on that they don't let inspectors in.

Or..... It could be argued the sanctions on Germany following ww1 led to the resentment and poverty that lead to the rise of hitler and ultimately ww2. The appeasement had more to do with his actions once growing out of that environment. We took a different approach after ww2 with better results.

Hitler also grew his army in the face of the sanctions knowing the world didn't have the stomach to completely enforce them. We have waive ring world support to continue to briefing them as it it. We are not in a vacuum. Israel is actually a nice wild card. They do have the stomach to step in regardless of what we or the world do/does. Or at least they feed that perception. The status quo wasn't going to work much longer. Reactionary politics rarely works long term.

Funny how Iran was our friend until the late 70s but must remain our enemy forever now while Germany and Japan were our enemies in the 40s.

One could also mention that our sanctions on Cuba almost lead to nuclear missiles in Cuba during the cold war. Also those sanctions almost started WW3.

WWII was a continuation of WWI, the Treaty of Versailles crippled the German economy and led to Hitler's power grab.

Iran was our "friend" it's true, but really that had a lot to do with the Shah. Change of leadership created the situation that exists to this day. Conspiracy lovers should be up in arms that the hostages and "revolution" took place virtually on Carter's first day in office, but that would not be palatable to Reagan worshipers who make up much of the neo-conspiratory theorists.

I believe (hope?) that the majority of their citizens, who are not Arab btw, lean toward western ideals. Heck, their modern citizens love Levis! But it will take time until they are able to impose their will on the future path Iran takes.

Hopefully, for our sake, the new agreement will provide the decade of time needed to transform them into friends once again, only this time without the crushing brutality of both the Shah and the current regime. Another revolution? Maybe.

Everyone seems to be ignoring that if Iran does not comply with the terms the economic sanctions will be imposed again. The current sanctions got them to the table. Israel's awesome military power will likely not be required, but it's always helpful to have a real ally willing to walk the walk.

Look on the bright side, if they build nukes and turn the middle east into a radioactive wasteland we won't have to hear about wars over there every day anymore!
