At least for now, since the eggs are already inside the cigar....you prolly won't know if there's others till they show damage like this one. ( but I hope I'm wrong )

Yes, others that were near it are getting the 'cold treatment'.

Had a scare a while back, was diligent for a while, but have since become complacent again.

I'm sorry to see that. Had a case of the beetles once, but thankfully not on something as nice as the Calaveras. I hope the cold treatment works out

Cant find a clear answer but it seems most species is 2-4 years for dormant eggs
wiki - adults die within 6 days at 4 °C, and eggs survive 5 days at 0–5 °C.

Somebody shared a scientific research journal studying tobacco beetles on another forum, wish I'd saved it.

But iirc that's about right, eggs and live beetles can last a few days at warmer temps (above freezing, 40F) but as the temps go below freezing, 0F to -20F their viability is zero at 24hrs or less.

That's the ticket!!! I'm taking my cigars down to JFK Parkway and have the Pope bless my cigars protecting them from beetles.

What causes the eggs to hatch again? Is it higher temps or something else? Home humidors are a good temp unless my A/C **** out again but my work humidor gets pretty warm alot

Combination of both humidity and temp.

I'd be interested to know what were the conditions in the humidor that this happened?

When I opened it, the meter was reading 86F & 68%, if I recall correctly. But I am not sure what the length of time was. The majority are kept stored in a winedor and cooledor.

The desktop was in my office and someone decided to turn off the AC while I was away.
I was not a happy camper.
