Saw recently that Malia Obama was shown on snapchat playing beer pong while visiting Brown University on a campus tour with her high school group.

I think this is no big deal, even if she was pouring back a few. She's 17. Who didn't back then?

But then I recall the media frenzy when the Bush daughters tried to have a good time. Even in an age without mandatory cell phone cameras and social media gossip vehicles, the Bush twins were followed around by the liberal paparazzi and portrayed as an embarrassment whenever possible.

This time it's the child from the anointed ones loins, so you'll have to learn about Malia's exploits from sources outside the mainstream media.

Kids will be kids.
But media and liberal hypocrisy will live on forever.

Almost forgot:

Brown University issued a written formal apology to her.

Seems the school feels sorry that other students exercised their rights to post on social media, and the school thought it might be an undue burden to the young White House resident.
How thoughtful.

I don't know why (if it does ) this would surprise anyone.....the left wing media has given this administration a PASS ever since it took the oath. And nothing is gonna change in that regard. It's VERY telling in my opinion that the media ownership to my knowledge hasn't changed hands since W and his family were in the W.H.

And yet, how they approach things like this and countless other issues....makes it very clear to me that ownership delegates very closely and strictly what will and won't be covered and with what slant!!!!

Wasn't snapchat supposed to make the pics go away before they end up on Fox?

I think nobody cares what Malia did.
Which is in stark contrast to how the Bush twins were treated.
As evidenced by bander's recollection and probable current screen saver.

One of my friends who was a fly fishing guide in Colorado took both of the Bush twins on a guided float trip and he said that they both were smoking weed and drank so much that one of them was over the side of the boat puking most of the time. Not that I really have a problem with any of the first families' actions as they aren't in office. fog

I was wrong, it was one of their boyfriends (now husband) who was arrested for public drunkenness. The young Bush had the SS bail him out.

I didn't get into Brown University. Had a great interview, but even he said my chances were slim.
So I went to the Gansett Brewery for a tour on the way home.

I had to look this up because it didn't make the headlines. But claiming it didn't make the headlines b/c it's Obama seems to be jumping to conclusions.

The photo is of her standing next to a beer pong table, not of her playing beer pong. There are pictures of me standing next to beer pong as well, although I've never played it in my life. Hell, the list of things I've stood next to but not participated in is enormous... And really really questionable. If I were judged based on proximity ... Well lets leave that there.

She may or may not have participated. She may or may not have drank... But she doesn't look drunk, I don't see a red solo cup in her hand.... It seems like a non story, which would be why it isn't major headlines.

Now she may turn into a drunken clown after her first year, and that will be a story... And if it doesn't end up in the papers you may have a point. But I think you pulled your trigger a little too soon.

So you didn't even know about the story until I posted it.
But that has nothing to do with partisan reporting.
Got it.

As I pointed out, there isn't much to it. Which could be why it wasn't a story.

Or you can run around crying about partisan news....

The only reason I bring it up at all is to show people like you that there truly is a bias.
There is always a bias in the news.
Mainstream media is clearly left leaning, while typical talk radio is right wing.
Why do you deny these things?

Think about what gets reported as newsworthy:
drug addicted spouses of alcoholic reality stars make the front pages if they adopt a pet.
So when the Bush twins were partying in college and beyond, it made the news.
Now when the 17 year old Malia somehow finds a beer pong party during a college orientation tour it gets zero air time and you think it's because it's not newsworthy?
None of these examples are "newsworthy" in my opinion. But two of these somehow consistently make the news anyhow, while the other is treated with respect.

Not partisan?
That's brilliantly naive. You're almost cute for even saying it out loud.

So who reported this?
Fox?

So I found a picture, it doesn't even show her with a cup in her hand.
Are there pics of her actually drinking?

....I'm not saying the "mainstream media" isn't biased. I won't make that statement because there isn't evidence that it isn't. My point is that given what I've seen, a picture of Malia Obama standing, not appearing drunk, with no drink in her hand in proximity of what appears to be a beer pong game... that isn't evidence of a bias. You're simply jumping the gun on this OUTRAGE... ease back a little quick draw, wait till she gets to college and there is evidence or at least rumors of drunken behavior before you blow your load on the media bias.

Come back to us on this in a year or two and maybe I'll agree with you. Till then try thinking about baseball stats, or your grandma in lingerie or something like that.

You're creating your own controversy.
I stated in the first post that her actions were no big deal.

the media bias is proven by what they didn't do. Coupled with what the DID do while Bush was in office.

No outrage. Perhaps you need to re-read the first post.
They say short term memory is the second thing to go.

Plus, they say short term memory is the second thing to go.

Tail, I'm not saying it's controversial, and I didn't say you thought it was controversial. you're putting words in my mouth.

Your argument is that the media didn't report on something, which there is no real evidence of it happening. The bush daughters were cited for underage drinking. They weren't jumped on by the media because they were standing in proximity to alcohol.... but you're unhappy because the media isn't treating it as if they were caught doing the same thing.

I'm pretty pissed that evil mainstream media hasn't jumped on that time the terrorists blew up the twin towers under Obamas administration too. damn bias.

Face it tail... you want it to be biased, but you aren't willing to sit tight long enough to get the actual evidence of the bias.
