I agree 8. The move to .08 was a classic money making power grab and an governmental avenue in to people's lives built on the facade of safety and doing the right thing. Even the mechanism for forcing it on the states was bunk, yet folks embraced it because it was wrapped in fighting the evil of drunk driving. It's funny how people pick and choose on things like this depending what flag it's wrapped in.
I've never had one and don't ever plan to. I have seen people like my bil that need to have dl taken away. I've also seen a buddy with modest means pretty much bankrupted after having pizza and a couple beers with me and getting pulled over in a speed trap. Barely over .08 definitely under .1 and will likely never recover financially given his income and what this is doing to his job potential. The government did a number on him. He should have waited for a blood test and likely would have passed it but still would have no license. He took the breathalyzer and is screwed. Too bad he doesn't have the income to mitigate it.
And because the cause (anti drunk driving) is so noble to speak out about such things is sacralidge. Beware of issues that become so holy. They often justify an extreme that normally wouldn't be accepted. They also generally kill any legitimate debate or discussion because one side can wrap the self in the evil of the act and avoid any logical discussion. Anyone that doesn't want bac lowered to .000002 just hasn't experienced the true evil of drunk driving and is a voice to be marginalized and discounted. Drunk driving kills innocent children you know.
