I think it would cause more problems than it would solve.
While a good-meaning person may look at that doctrine and think it's to the public's benefit to represent both sides of every "controversial" issue... that creates a ridiculous circus atmosphere, where people with no real credibility are given the veneer of credibility just because they are granted air-time.
The methods by which information is delivered has changed so much, that the putative benefit of something like the fairness doctrine is already a moot point. The internet ensures that if you want information on your local socialist party, or the socialist party across the globe, you know their platform. We know the thoughts of every single silly fringe group we could want to look up.
If Pelosi wants to spend her time re-instating an out-of-date law, that's her business. I don't believe that's a good use of time or energy... nor do I think it will have good results.
