After last night's debacle and his refusal to endorse trump, what do you think?

I don't think not endorsing him matters based on the insults Trump hurled at Cruz' father and wife during the primaries.

Ted Cruz was Ted Cruz and a whole lot of people are outraged. Huh?

I've always felt Cruz in the Senate was neglecting his obligation to work with the rest of Congress to improve the country. Most of the time I applaud someone who is steadfast in application of their principles. To me, though, Cruz was obstructionist, not adding value...even the idea of changing the dialog was unhelpful 99% of the time.

On the other hand, I felt that he delivered a speech from his heart and convictions that was solid from start to finish. I cannot believe that I was the only Republican in the country that expected exactly what was delivered. If they didn't want that, they shouldn't have given him the podium. The party is a hot fn mess. The fact that Preibus not only has a job, but is still at the head is unbelievable. The GOP thinks they want everything that Cruz wants, but are upset when Cruz says it....LOL. I don't like Cruz much, but I am convinced that he's one of very few top Republicans that can articulate an actual vision or idea and believe what he says....forget whether or not you agree with him

If you're not going to endorse, you shouldn't accept the invite.

Cruz has isues I have problems with, but he's a more liberty minded guy than most in the Senate.

My thoughts as well. You insult my family and want me to play nice? I don't think so... however, I wouldn't have even showed up at the convention, let alone speak at the podium. The party made its choice and it wasn't Cruz.

Hillary will accept you all as her subjects for the next 8 years, never fear.

After all, the $$ she steals from you is as good as any.

I have disliked Cruz for a long time. I think his speach was out of place, but Trump knew the content and let him go on anyway. This seems to be more gamesmanship on Trump's part. I do think his indirect jabs at Trump were rather classless, but not suprising.

I'm torn on this one because I think Cruz is satan. That said its not as if he trashed Trump he simply didn't endorse him. And it's the RNC convention not the TNC convention. I know tradition and blah blah blah but trump is hardly traditional.

It would be politically correct for Cruz to endorse so I understand the trump folks outrage given their value of political correctness.

Meh maybe I've developed a soft spot for ol Ted for agreeing with me about trump even though I feel the same way about him.

On a related note why would trump even want an endorsement from a habitual liar who's father killed JFK and was dumb enough to marry an ugly chick instead of an imported beauty?

Remember Trump walking it back if he was "treated unfairly" as defined by Trump. He was going to do the same thing. His outrage is duly noted.

Cruz could have said he was hono ring the pledge they all signed, and was supporting the candidate. He didn't have to say Trump's name, or even say the word "endorse".

I don't have a problem with his decision, but the manner in which he executed it showed a lack of class I would like to see in a potential POTUS. But I guess that's what we get from a guy who wasn't eligible to rub in the first place.

The pledge was stupid. It was simply too open ended. I mean, did the RNC actually expect the candidates to support the winner under any circumstances whatsoever? What if the nominee started spouting communist propaganda? What if he became pro choice? What if he said he was going to round up all gun owners?

Since there are clearly circumstances under which the other candidates wouldn't be reasonably expected to support the nominee, then that oath is essentially BS. At best you can judge him on just how much he tried to follow it.

There's a very small substratum of folks who actually care what Cruz did or didn't say. He thinks he's pivoting for 2020, but he's essentially channeling his inner Nelson Rockefeller.

I agree with Boehner when he said that Cruz is "Lucifer Incarnate." If anyone can make that accusation it's gotta be Boehner, the man goes to church 7 days a week.

Is Cruz a dirt bag? Of course. In fact if you have followed his career, you know him to be a POS.

In civil service, there is a time when it is morally incumbent upon one to disobey orders and oaths that in your best judgment are wrong, immoral or betray the public trust. Cruz did not endorse Trump. He said "vote your conscience".

A Repulican freind of mine, while discussing this over lunch, was quick to point out: "Vote your conscience" is a known anti-Trump phrase.

Let that sink in for a moment.....

Obviously the party is so splintered that voting for their candidate might not be something one could do in good conscience....

Given that Lord Cheeto cannot unify his party any more than he could his first two marriages, so let's focus of Cruz.
Yeah, he's the bad guy here.

Sure -

Leadership is weak and has abandoned a lot of voters.

Appear to try hard for the religiosity right that can't see outside their sandbox, and satisfy big business and the Chamber of Commerce and you're in buddy.

Neither Trump or Cruz is what is wrong with the Republicants. If you think they are you're either a D or an establishment R.

Fear not, I suspect those sharing Cruz' equivocation on voting for Trump are far out numbered by those that have been brought to the party by Trump.

So Ted, you gonna vote for Hillary then? Same question for you Kasich. At least he didn't go to the convention but he did make an appearance in Cleveland. What dicks. Shut up and help deliver your states unless you really want Hillary. And sadly I don't think that's out off the question. While she's not an established Republican she IS an established politician, a member of the club.

I like that Cruz stood up and didn't let the party dictate to him what to say.
HOWEVER,
I did not like that he made a pledge and did not follow through with it.
He truly is a politician. Say one thing and do another.

Dude, I've been watching the RNC - those peeps would swallow anything.

And now Trump in in the news lambasting Cruz and telling his other opponents to sux it.
Most of us grew out of that in middle school - but I will give credit, Don has raised it to an art form. And the thick browed authoritarian can't get enough....

And I reckon that is the attraction. He's a swinging cod. Who cares about the people he's screwed, the bankruptcies, divorces, allegations of rape - or even acting like a child tyrant.
