Not long ago, while looking for something else, I ran across this article by some cigar guru that said when you

receive your cigars, they are pretty much ready to smoke. After three months, they enter a sick period for up

to a year. Can't find it again and have not seen anything else about it. Or am I in the twilight zone?

That's usually for cubans. Cigars imported to the US are usually aged 6/mo to a year during the shipping process, so there's not any real worry.

This sounds like the guy from Cigar Obsession. I recently watched a YouTube video of his where he said a similar thing, if I recall.

I heard each time they get mailed they start a new sick period. It might take a cigar in a pass that didn't get picked 10 years to get healthy.

Well, if it's on the interwebz and written by a blogger, it must be true.

Mine were sick when I got them but after a trip to the Dr. and some antibiotics it only took about 10 days for them to start feeling better.

Penicillin works great for a leaky faucet. Not sure what it does for blue waffles though.

Be sure you punch holes all over the wrapper to help let the moisture in. That's what i normally do and the come back to life within a day.

A fellow on another web site/ forum sells hand rolls from Cuba. I know some on here have purchased and posted pictures of these cigars. Everybody that purchases these said there is a "sick period" for up to a couple years. I
couldn't tell you because I've never purchased them.

Johnny-O's???
They a very fresh when delivered, and worth a try if you've never had a fresh cigar. But after a few months they will go into a sick period. It's best to let them rest for at least 12-18 months. Cubans however are not as fresh in comparison and are usually through their sick period before being delivered. A long nap is still highly recommended though.

Speaking of Johnny O’s, anyone order from him recently? Think
