Heading to friends in St. Louis area Sunday for an eclipse party.

After watching the evening news I wonder what the drive will be like?

I haven't had a "first" in quite a time so I'm looking forward to it.

How about you guys?

Going to set up a time-lapse camera at the house, 99% location and head out the back roads to see the 100%.

I bought two pair of flip up cutting goggles and installed number 14 filters.

No, a number 14 welding shade, most welders use a number 10 shade for routine work. They are the little rectangular lenses in a welding hood.

If you mean the time-timelapse camera, I plan on pointing it out the window, not at the sun to show the approaching darkness and second dawn.

Ahh got it, I had made my own N stop filter for my camera using a replacement welders shade for 3 to 10 minute long exposures on the water. An awesome effect to say the least.

My back yard is smack dab in the middle of totality. No traffic.....no nonsense. All businesses are close because of all the people. I'll just be sitting in the yard enjoying the show

Just drove through town. Lots of people, but not as many as we figgered. The city park is totally full. Be interesting to see if the police enforce the 10pm closing of the park....

I feel bad for everyone who traveled to cloudy weather.

One guy built a house and an observatory right in totality.
Spent the past decade preparing.

I hope he don't get clouded over.

Today is the day folks. Stay safe and keep them peepers looking in a safe direction if you are out and about. Dont need none of you going blind. Most of you already have issues counting and sh1t.

j/k...used a sheet of paper with a small hole to cast a shadow onto the ground, a little more than half of the sun was blocked in SoCal...it just seems like a typical overcast day here...

We had a good view, went to the top of our parking garage. My buddy is making a timelapse of it.

DED, at the maximum, we had a view where the clouds weren't covering it, was pretty sweet.

I bought a 6 pack of those glasses from Amazon for 20 bucks. After the recall, I checked to see if mine were recalled, they weren't, but the price jumped to $100 for the same 6 pack :D

Don't worry the internet and TV will shortly be flooded with professional photos and videos from just about everywhere in the US.

We're starting to get a little lighter outside down in Kentucky. Max darkness was around 2:28 PM EST for Louisville.

Well that was a fail. Thanks Mother Nature, clouds galore so not much to see by me as it passed. And it started to rain.

Hope others are able to get a better view.

On the plus side, I didn't go blind despite the warnings!

No totality...and partly cloudy...made for a pretty decent viewing....there was just enough clouds to make a pretty good filter...I expect my eyes to make a full recovery in six to eight weeks

I went walking barefoot through the woods. Watched the birds fly back to their homes, and quite down.
Frogs started singing. It was neat

I was just waiting for Mr. Sasquatch to say high.

He didn't...... durn it.

Saw it at 100% it was pretty cool to look at the sun and see the corona. It did not get completely dark however, almost, but not really dark. We were out in the country between Edgefield and Saluda, South Carolina.

Here in Houston the sky was dimmed but it was still pretty damn bright. Took in the view with a couple of gals at the ole Hooters. They were all really excited.
