a favorite from many years ago...Susan Cowsill, especially on the album Vermilion by the great band Continental Drifters.
One listen to The Rain Song and I was hooked on her.

thinking not Partridge but definitely the Cowsills (from Rhode Island) of the rain the park and other things. she was a kid then.
Has a little rasp in her voice sometimes that I find appealing.
Check out the Vermillion album by the Continental Drifters. Studio cuts better than live ones I've seen. Interesting cast...
I think she wrote The Rain Song...not the Led Zep one.

Wonder where my cd is, been too long since I listened.

Iirc, the Cowsills were the inspiration for TPF.

I did watch TPF as well as The Brady Bunch while growing up but wasn’t what you’d call a “fan” of either show.

Whitney Houston

Linda Ronstadt

Tracy Chapman

Etta James

Pat Benetar

Adele

Just a few of the greats off the top of my head. If I really had to choose the best, Whitney Houston would be my choice.

Right? For the darker side of the Hale half of that duo, try a search for Halestorm. I highly recommend Love Bites and Mayhem

I totally agree with some you all have mentioned:
Stevie Nicks
Adelle
Allison Krauss
Nina Simone

And adding:
Natalie Merchant
Lady Gaga (Don't hate, listen to her singing with NO electric magic on Howard Stern: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0X7PodqDSE)

That’s kinda like asking “What’s your favorite WNBA team?”

How about Neko Case.

To be honest,
she truly gave me hope that there just might be other females with some kind of talent.
As crazy as that might sound…
