Elderly couple said 60 pounds of pot were Xmas gifts: cops

YORK, Neb. — An elderly couple who was arrested in Nebraska with 60 pounds of marijuana in their truck told officers that the drugs were meant to be Christmas presents.

The York News-Times reports the couple were arrested Tuesday by the York County Sheriff’s Department after they were stopped for a traffic violation.

Officers found the bags of marijuana in the Toyota Tacoma driven by the 80-year-old man and 83-year-old woman. They said they were driving from California to Vermont.

The couple was being held in York County jail on suspicion of felony drug charges.

But seriously, 60lbs = 960 ounces.
If you smoked an average of one doobie a day it comes to about one Ounce a month. 960 ounces consumed at one ounce per month would take 80yrs! Of course that's not counting reducing some of it into concentrates like tinctures and hash.

Maybe they where buying enough to celebrated each year they where alive LOL

60lbs at approx $1,500 per pound is around $90,000. That's a different type of retirement investment for sure!

I'm pretty sure...
$300-400 an oz. X 16 = $4,800++ @street...prolly $2K an lb @ the very least...
But you live in Colorado where legality brought down the price I read somewhere.

It's legal in Cali too!
Cali's wholesale prices are about the same, but their taxes may be higher.

When you're buying in bulk, especially 60lbs worth, the price tends to drop. $1,500/lb is "approx" but they probably paid less - closer to $1K/lb.
