I've got a 20 count humidor and it's empty. My goal is not to collect, but rather to smoke. 2,000 or less.

Right on, I collect to smoke. Nothing in my humidor last over 6 months.

At one time I had close to 5,000 CC's and it was a handful to say the least. Mostly, full boxes. I tried spreadsheets to attempt to keep it organized. It was practically a full time job making sure everything was humidified, inspected (monthly) and rotated from different coolerdors to and from my active stand up humidor cabinet. It started to take the fun out of it. So I quit collecting and smoking. I now have probably around 100 CC's and I pretty much have no idea what I have beyond a few special sticks. fog

Thanks for the insights. I'm usually @ 100-250 and am trying to keep a nice rotating top shelf of 30-50.

250 cigars, I can't remember when I had just 250 cigars.

Now I have changed what I smoke. I smoke what I want and if it's the last of the great ones, so be it. Life is short.

You all know 250 ain't ****.....you must be bored Beer

My top shelf is whatever im smoking in the next month-everyday smokes mixed in with some special ones; I don't keep all my top shelf chit in the top shelf. So its a manual transmission and it runs off of blood sweat and tears.

Dude, it's almost the weekend.
We're not bored, were fuqin crazy and immature.
250 cigars...
That would last TonyG about 40 days, give or take.
It would probably last Buckwheat 10 years......or more.
I'd probably smoke that in a year.

It's all relative.
250 cigars IS a lot of cigars by the way...

Hahaha! Yup, “The King” is just messing around! On this site it’s a rite of passage for nOObs to be ridiculed at some point. It can be rather sophomoric but ultimately it’s a test of your skin thickness. Since you’re a stick shift kinda guy, you should do okay.

Btw, “...blood sweat and tears...”? Frankie will be along shortly to ask if you know David Clayton-Thomas.

My friend told me "I've got too many cigars." My response was "You never have too many......only too little space". His response - he just built a cedar lined wineador.....and is buying more cigars.

My goal is to have so many that letting them get some age on them is no real hardship. Having no record system can bless you with many surprises.

I have been tempted to buy or make a wineador and to this date have resisted it due to the complaints on them. I would love to see a well engineered cedar lined cooler. I think that would solve the humidity loss issue on them.

I try to have Atleast 75-90 in stock. I always have a lot of my standbys - I’m talking bundles of Don Felo, standard La Finca, maybe some Flor de Olivia bundles/ whatever I get for a good price. Then I have my special occasion smokes- like after a good night with Mrs. GhettoNigFabulous- The Europas, the CAO Brazilas, the Saint Luis Rey Reserva, some other **** I like to try., and then sometimes I get packs of Ramrods or Parodis just to gnaw on when I want something real different.

My wineador has been up and running strong for years. I didn't line it in cedar though, I did build cedar drawers and a couple shelves though.

Don't want to pop your bubble here bubbie, but you ain't even close to a hoarder..........not even a wee bit of a hoarder.

A true hoarder has thousands upon thousands of cigars, and probably like 1,200 he's NEVER gonna smoke!
He just looks at them, maybe trades them now and again, gently rotates them every 3 months.
It's a disease, an illness, a psychiatric condition.
We have a few here.............in the closet.

But he has many leather bound books and his apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Surely, that must be worth something...

Ranch house??
No second floor?
WTF!

I had you pictured, sitting upstairs, in a fat leather recliner, gazing over your estate, smoking a well aged PAM, reading a leather bound old English version of Napolean's exploits.
What a let down!

I don't know. I don't really keep tabs on that. I do recall that some of them that I might remember to be spicy are usually mellower if the cello is yello... with all the good goo seeped out of the cigar and stuck on the cello. :-)

I have a gingerbread house, on the banks of a chocolate marshmallow river, and the river is full of Swedish gummy fish..Anxious
I don't collect cigars, but I accumulate the hell out of them...if I called it a collection people would assume I don't plan on smoking each and every one of them(or sharing them with friends)....definitely not all high end but most are tasty mid range smokes I enjoy along with a smattering of high end smokes...Beer

Yea, good point. I'm in the process of trying to age some smokes for the first time. My humidor rotates but can now see the benefits of aging some sticks 1-2 yrs. I'm starting the experiment with some Chillin Moose but am smoking all my high ends at will. Since discovering Cigar Bid; I'm already doubling the collection in less than a month. Whistle so I think it would allow me to start aging for the first time; now that I'm not paying full retail.

+1...seems it's a common myth that most cigars will get better with age....................no...they...don't...

some will, though, and id'ing them is part of the fun.

the other side of the coin is that some great cigars will get worse with age, and you'll regret saving them, instead of smokin em...
