The folks who keep their money under the mattress won in 2018 but the market goes up many more years than down. Assuming this will be an up year:

Guess the date that the DOW will first close above the 25000 mark it hit in early 2018. The contest will end at that point.

Entries deadline is Jan 20, 2019. No entry fee and open to all Cbidders.

You are playing for a prize that will include at least one box of fine cigars (msrp $150+)

EDIT NOTE: Conan, Al and Shaun have volunteered to send prizes as well to the winner.

MY guess (which does not count) is: June 3rd.

quick clarification thou -- you looking for crossing 25k or closing over 25 k. my crystal ball is very precise....LOL Full of crap

Great question. Especially with 600-700 pt swing days. It could cross the line 5 different days before closing above.

ALWAYS gauged at the end of trading for the day. I have edited the contest to show that it is the close of the trading day. Thanks for the question.

that may be true, but in this New World of chaos and this Elevator Operator on duty, the Dow could fly up and then crash within days.

Interesting point. If it does get to 25K in early Jan and the cutoff for entries is Jan 20th I will declare the earliest close guess the winner.

There was a big spike in January last year, think it will happen again. Don't think it will stay at 25000 though. Probably a fall and then a lull. I think we will be lucky if it ends the year at 25000.
