Forever and a day the Sales Tax line has read $0.00, but my latest order "processing" says.....

Sales Tax $16.86

This must be the NEW internet sales tax that President Trump signed into law. A pox upon the D&R party & Dear Leader Donnell for collecting revenue for the California Moonbeam government on sales made in Pennsylvania. Shame on you !

A Supreme Court decision of June 21, 2018 (South Dakota v. Wayfair Inc.) established that individual states can require ecommerce retailers to collect state sales tax on the goods they sell. But that's OK, blame Trump. I had a plugged cigar a few days ago, and I know it's all the big bad orange man's fault.

You live in Cali and complain about taxes? d'oh!

A decent $10 cigar costs about $15 there.

Glad you cleared that up you crazy Californian. You read much? Neither Trump or governor moon beam had anything to do with that tax. Reading is fundamental. Frank and Opel will be around later.

Several "liberal judges" voted for "yeah" in this decision.

Personally, I think it stinks worse than a dried out Acid cigar. fog

Justice Gorsuch was the deciding vote in South Dakota v. Wayfair Inc. President Trump praised the decision to ream Americans with higher taxes. https://thehill.com/policy/finance/393560-trump-praises-supreme-court-ruling-in-internet-sales-tax-case

President Trump appointed the Rocky Mountain High progressive, Big Stupid Government loving, libtard Gorsuch. The vote would have been even worse if big gov loving authoritarian Kavanaugh had been on the court at the time.

Progressive tax and spend New York Values First, Cigar Smoking Americans Last! Deficits don't matter, the sky's the limit! Sarcasm

Hillary would have reamed Cigar Smoking Americans with higher taxes too. Frying pan

I can understand tax resistance...and certainly changes unfavorable to us.

But I think the outrage, if any, should be directed at your local tax jurisdiction, vice SC, or Trump, or Cbid.

We all knew that tax free internet sales couldn't last forever....it was never really fair to our state and local retailers. Seemed like a good enough idea to get the internet sales thing kick started, but nobody who thought much about it thought that it would be permanent.

I can't bring myself to get too wound up on this.

I wouldn't even bother blaming trumpenfurher for this....

Internet sales have been skirting taxes for years. The legality has been questionable, even without this new law. I remember the discussion always popped up when I was growing up in Seattle (an income tax free state, with high sales taxes) which is close enough to Oregon (a sales tax-less state, with income tax). The legality of people driving across the border to buy high-ticket items was always in question. You're skirting the taxes which you're supposed to pay to help support the community you live in.

Disagreement with what your tax money is spent on, or the level at which it is taxed is never a valid reason to avoid paying the tax... Otherwise my IRS payments would be much different.

In fact, it's these backchannel sales/ tax avoidance which severely hinders a fair assessment of any alternative tax schemes... (ie, the reason you have "income tax" is because that's the easiest way to get your money to the government without you hiding tax revenue by buying outside the jurisdiction. )

I think it's a crock that I have to pay sales tax on an item that I didn't buy in this state. That ain't even logical to me. But oh well. I'm still paying less than I would at a California B&M. Cali's next step will probably be to ban online tobacco purchases. You know, for the childrens and stuff.

if you are financially crippled by a tax on cigars then maybe you should cut the habit all together and put your money to use elsewhere.

Since you seem to be such a high roller fat cat philanthropist with OPM (other peoples money), why don't you cut a YUUUGE check to the State Of California? =d>

I'd rather not pay taxes on sales made in PA.

Apparently Trump runs AAFES also.

They stopped selling Bud Light in cases and instead moved to 12-packs.

Two 12-packs costs $5 more than a case.

Beer
