How often do you smoke? Do you ever worry about what too many does to your health?

I smoke two per day, three max. I don't worry too bad about what it does currently, but the long run is a different thing. I know smokers that have had a smoking existence for 25/30 years and they are healthy as a horse.

Cigars are nothing like cigarettes. Therefore, the long term affect is much more different.

What are your thoughts?

I am more in the one or two a week category. So on a sliding scale I think I'm OK. You on the other hand.....you're gonna die!

I usually smoke 2-3 a day on the weekends (Fri nite, Sat, Sun) with maybe 1 or 2 during the week while in the car. Thinking of reducing it a bit so that I can continue to enjoy them as I get older without having any concerns.

Lots of Cubans who have literally smoked cigars since the diapers came off live well into their 80's and 90's.

I don't sweat it...….enjoy life,3-7 cigars per week, probably that many bowls of baccy as well, with Bourbon or Scotch.

I figure the benefits of relaxation/stress relief outweigh possible negative effects. Also helps those around me. Whichever arsehole at work that causes my final heart attack and/or spontaneous brain explosion will be coming with me

No . I'm definitely not in insurance. It was just a question. I think about it often.

This is the stance I take on things. The co- worker thing... I can't relate to.. BUT I do know what you mean as far as the relaxation and stress factors.

My main concern is my teeth and gums. And I do see how it could cause throat cancer because towards the end of the cigar it feels like when you're chewing snuff and swallow some of your spit.

I only smoke outside but for anyone who smokes indoors without great ventilation, you can't say "it's not as bad as cigarettes" because you are breathing it in. Cigars have nitrosimines (sp) from the fermentation that are not contained in cigarette smoke.

I smoke cigarettes and cigars so as of now I am screwed

Yuck. Whats the point of smoking cigars if you like cigarettes? I never understood this...

I guess to each it's own.

I worry about my mouth - gums and teeth as well. I do tend to brush more than the average person per day to avoid plaque and build up. My teeth are still perfect as of now... But when I get older... I hope this doesn't change.

I really like nicotine and tobacco in various forms. I used to like Skoal straight too back in the day but chewing has too many drawbacks.

I would like to transition to only cigars soon but they're kind of inconvenient sometimes compared to five minutes for a cigarette.
I roll my own so the price isn't an issue

every medical study I have seen including the FDA's has said smoking 1 to 2 stogies a day does not increase health risks by any measurable amount. Of course that all depends on where you smoke. Have to have a well ventilated area.

I've read that too, so shouldn't be much of a concern.
But I hit it pretty hard on the weekends, so I usually lay off somewhat during the week. Booze included. Nothing wrong with a little restraint

This might help with the taste part of your cigar experience:

Of course iffin’ you’re always smoking something, whether it’s cigarettes or cigars, a change in toothpaste or mouthwash may not help.

Quit the cigarettes STAT
Keep some cigarillos on hand for a quick puff

My goodness, he caught ebola! Worse things than dead inside.

Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now
I hear you're feeling down
Well I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax
I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are the only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
I have become comfortably numb
Okay
Just a little pinprick
There'll be no more
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are the only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown the dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb

Hang on, it could get better.

im sure smoking with any significant frequency increases your risks over not smoking

what is the nadir point: 5/week, 5/day, 5/morning...?

not sure anyone knows

definitely dont inhale

my hunch that 3-5/week is almost certainly safe for an otherwise healthy person

I've certainly given it some thought. I pretty much stopped smoking cigars about 10 years ago when I had a bout of brain cancer (100% unrelated to cigars).

I would hope that everyone at least isn't too flippant about the health issues of smoking in general. fog

George Burns smoked 10 to 15 large cigars a day and he lived to be 100. I used to smoke 4 to 6 per day, but over the past few years have cut it down to 2 to 3, mainly due to time restraints. I'm currently 62 years old, have been smoking for over 10 years and am currently extremely healthy. But I attribute the health to doing clean low carb from 2003 to 2012. When I went back to the SAD (standard American diet) in '13, I started getting all kinds of health problems. I was starting to cough a lot while smoking and had pains in my chest among other health issues. I started clean Keto and intermittent fasting back in October and virtually all my health problems are gone as well as the coughing or chest pain while smoking. My last physical was a couple months ago. All blood work, cardio and other tests came back as exceptional.

From the research I've done recently, and doctors I've communicated with, I think the medical profession has it wrong. Sure, it's possible for smoking to contribute to cancer and heart disease for those who consume the inflammatory poisons and chemicals that pass as current main stream "food". But I do believe that diet contributes far more to cancer, heart disease and inflammatory illnesses, then does cigar smoking. Just my 2 cents.

I actually agree with this. I see an enormous change in energy and physical conditions since I started eating healthier. I think foods contribute more to cancers than anything.

I can't image 10 to 15 a day. That is back to back with no break. I would hate cigars if I smoked that much.
