I haven't watched TV in well over a decade but every once in awhile on YouTube I get recommended an old show.

My all time fav is MASH hands down. Still think it was better than Seinfeld which is the answer a lot of people give to this question when I ask it as all time fav show.

I was wondering what old black and white TV show if any people still watch. YouTube recommended McHale's Navy to me and I binge watched it and loved every second. I loved watching this show as a kid. But, when I think about just the old black and white shows I can't just pick one. There were so many good shows back then. Anyone have a favorite? Trying to decide what to watch next.

My buddy Steve was a huge fan of MASH.

I was an 80's kid. A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Love Boat, Fantasy Island.

I always thought Seinfeld was stupid.

Tried some MASH reruns a year or two ago. Had been a pretty big fan.....but it didn't hold up well for me. Didn't enjoy it much at all now.

I have rewatched (and still enjoyed) Cheers on Netflix. Never 'got' Seinfeld. Most Python episodes have aged well, IMO. I Love Lucy and Honeymooners are still very funny....D!ck Van Dyke show not as much.

I didn't have a buddy named Steve, and the love boat and fantasy island were queer... But I concur with everything else you said... Had a really hard time with the popularity of Seinfeld....

That made me think of a new noob question - Wally or the Beaver ?

My Mrs. was a big I Love Lucy fan, but once she started looking at them again they weren't so funny.

I liked The Show of Shows and many of the others mentioned. Currently watching a lot of Two and a Half Men.

some great shows mentioned after the OP, but I have a stock retort when I hear from a McHales Navy fan...it was a total ripoff of the older Phil Silvers/You'll Never Get Rich/Sgt. Bilko show (not sure where you'd find the right series) without the genius of the conniving lead role character.

I mean, McHale would say "let's have a Casino night, boys. Huddle up..." fade to next scene where there are roulette wheels and crap tables etc. From where?

Phil Silvers made the show about how he conned and cajoled everyone to do his bidding and the result would be a casino. You'd have to watch it to see what I mean.

Two other things.
Top Cat was a nearly character for character reproduction of Sgt. Bilko and
Several members of Bilko's platoon from the Motor Pool were also in McHale's Navy

soooo great. Big stars like young Henry Aaron would show up trying to win a couple hundred bucks too.
Think it was filmed in Wrigley Field...Los Angeles!

Both were good. Many shows back then, in particular Outer Limits, The Twilight Zone, One Step Beyond, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Star Treck often were parables with a distinct moral message.

Well, I was thinking M*A*S*H, Monty Python, Twin Peaks (not sure if the latter is old enough to qualify).

Then I recalled, I was watching Perry Mason as a kid. Probably what put in my mind to become a lawyer. We didn't have any in the family, and I knew at a young age that is what I wanted to do. I'll even watch an episode once a year or so now, even though much of it is unrealistic and I've seen the episodes so many times.

Runner up? Aerobicise on Showtime. I mean, c'mon, am I the only heterosexual male here that grew up in his late teens and early 20's while women danced on a turntable to music in their underwear while masquerading as an exercise program? Of all the legit workout programs I've seen over the years, I've never heard of anyone actually trying to make this into a workout outside of a TV studio. Now remember to breathe out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGdlcWKk2Ms
