Watching a couple of them live on CSPAN. Interesting....but what a fustercluck.
Best part was when the head dude in West Des Moine was filling out something and frustratingly said "How the hell do you spell Bute a judge??"

All an exercise in futility....

Trump will win in Nov. 2020 election...
And the Democratic party knows it in spades.

It was R.I.G.G.E.D. BY Hillary to quelch Bernie at the gate...

If he ever got the nomination...she couldn't handle it.

Screwing Bernie again. Doesn't matter, Trump will be re-elected. I think Bernie could have defeated Trump in 2016, but not this time.

That assessment was long before we even knew the app was blown up.

Seriously....can anyone explain why Iowa gets to go first....sooooo much attention and an outsized role in weeding out candidates?

Almost feel sorry for the poor slobs that spent tens of millions and walked through 99 counties and ate countless heart attack breakfasts.....only to be told "maybe go see what's going on in New Hampshire....we'll let you know later if anyone won here"

hillary clinton now being referred to as a "coding issue in the reporting system"...

bernie ran for one reason this year... he knew he could threaten to play spoiler and knew he would again be payed handsomely to drop out and endorse the dnc nominee... that's it...

but they're getting rid of him via technology instead of a big fat check this time and hoping trump hate alone will drive his base to the clinton endorsed nominee...

I was just watching CBS This Morning and am shocked. A panel of 5 where commenting on the caucus, and all 5 agreed that the winner of the Iowa Caucus was Trump. I had to double check the channel, and replay it to make sure I heard it correctly.

it's true...this reflects badly on the Dems, prolly the worst stumble out the gates imaginable (well maybe a glitch that erased all Bernie votes woulda been worse)...what a ****show

in this era of political paranoia, conspiracy theories and meddling, this gives Trump plenty of ammo for the up-coming campaign...buckle your seat belts...

The "hawkeye caucii" has always been a cluster. It makes no sense to me. While I get the gist of it, grass roots and all, it's run by the campaigns so it just seems "staged" from the outset. As I understand it, each "group" is for a candidate. They're there to persuade more folks to go with their candidate. So it's more campaigning than anything?

But hey, "Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa." Beer

What! You don't like the interviews with Iowans all cry faced because they didn't get a personal conversation with a particular candidate? Sarcasm

I agree.

Each state has the right to run it's "primary" under its own rules.

New Hampshire state law[6] stipulates that the presidential primary shall be on the second Tuesday in March (the date when town meetings and non-partisan municipal elections are traditionally held), but that the Secretary of State can change the date to ensure that the New Hampshire primary will take place at least seven days before any "similar election" in any other state. The Iowa caucuses are not considered to be a similar election. In recent election cycles, the New Hampshire primary has taken place the week after the Iowa caucus.

I, too, found it sorta quaint at first….and even a little entertaining for the first half hour or so.
But, the lack of organization and downwright sloppiness started to get to me…yeah, yeah…I suppose democracy is supposed to be ‘messy’…but it isn’t supposed to be stupid

I was a bit uncomfortable with the nature of the caucus – Voting is traditionally very personal and private – not public and broadcasted; Voting polls open for 12 hours or more – Caucus not until dinner time – seems pretty restrictive…especially if you have young kids or work 2nd shift

The idea that ‘if your guy doesn’t get 15%, you gotta get a new guy’ seems sort of f’d up – especially if it’s the first state ‘primary’ ---- 5th place now might still mean something…messed up to take away their ‘votes’ before we’ve even gotten started.

-So…move Iowa until late April…..let ‘em caucus…or not. By then, nobody will GAF who anyone in Iowa votes for
-While they’re at it, move NH, too. Make opening day a Super Tuesday. Get ‘er done all at once…winner take all

Before the results, quick background on Shadow, the company that developed the app used for reporting vote tallies in Iowa...

It is a startup founded by former Hillary Clinton campaign staffers Gerard Niemira and Krista Davis.

It is attached to a nonprofit called Acronym, a key investor. Acronym was founded by former Barack Obama campaign staffer and journalist Tara McGowan.

Buttigieg paid Shadow $42,500 for “software rights and subscriptions.”

Breaking Iowa results with 62% of precincts reporting: Buttigieg 26.9%, Bernie 25.1%, Warren 18.3%, Biden 15.6%

It's gotta feel pretty sh*tty to be a Democrat...

We have been and are great and a nation.

It is telling of a man who would sell us on the idea that we are not, and only he alone can lead us back to greatness....

Lets the Dems stumble and bumble in meaningless states. This all works to the advantage of the one man who can give Trump a run for the presidency, Bloomberg. Go ahead and laugh, not a single one of the others has a chance against Trump.

I’m guessing that the Democratic establishment will fight tooth and nail to prevent Bloomberg from getting the Dem nomination. They control the caucuses. As a result, the super delegates dictate the nomination if there isn’t a clear front runner which is why Bernie didn’t get the nomination in 2016.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure they will show at best lukewarm support for him publicly. In private I seriously doubt they will help him. Sets a bad precedent for the candidates that have towed the line and expect support for their loyalty.

That then leaves the option of running as a third party candidate. If that happens the Dems will split the vote and Trump would probably win the electoral vote with a far lager margin than in 2016.

Who knows.
