Footbands stink. Too hard to remove. And then, you often don't have a band to put your fingers on while smoking, so the wrapper eventually tears where you hold it.

Really, the addition of footbands is probably the only the they could do to Olivia Vs to make them even worse.

They rule. I don’t want other bands. Just a foot band. Not a regular band and sleeve and foot band

I can’t recall having any issues with removing foot bands. Ever.

I’ve also, while smoking a “nekkid” cigar, ever have the wrapper tear where the band used to be. Never. Ever.

Your issues sound more like a Lee issue than something common to many. Laugh

I don't claim to be many, but I have had a foot band or two that was troublesome, if not an outright issue

Fair enough, Conan. I tend to roll cigars in my fingers as a habit, and that's probably why I tear wrappers wo bands.

I gently agitate the foot band with my finger to see how ready it is before I really go after it. Sometimes you just have to be patient, your efforts will eventually be rewarded.

Chainsaw. Electric one though. The gas powered vibrates too much

My first thought when I saw the topic was it was going to be a discussion of those socks or some ace bandage like thingies for old people that have circulation issues with their feet... those compression sock thingies.

Then I figured out you are talking about cigar bands on the foot of a cigar.

Does the cedar wrap and/or the ribbon found on some cigars (like some of the Fuente and the 5 Vegas) fall into the foot band category? Other than the cedar wrapped cigars, the only foot band cigar that I can think of off the top of my head is the RP Edge and some of the 5 Vegas.

So my vote would be "What are foot bands?" (confusion on the title of the post) or the non offered choice of "It doesn't impact me either way." I usually remove the band before lighting no matter if it's at the foot or up near the cap.

Only amateurs remove it. Real men smoke it with it on!!! And the cello is just extra flavor...

IIRC Fuente started the foot band thing with its SG ribbons more than 20 years ago. At least thats the first I remember other than some special Habano releases like the Bolivar Gold Medals from the early 1990s. Seems every year since the whole band thing has gotten worse. Now many cigars come almost encased in bands. Foil bands, paper bands, ribbons. Iffn the band is going to be that large at least put some important info on it like rolling date, wrapper/ binder/filler tobacco type, etc.

SUCK!

I am very disappointed by this poll. I can't believe so many of you like footbands.

I feel like I don't even know you anymore.
