So I’m on the the phone with Robert and he tells me that he just had the absolute worst thing happen to him. So he says that his laptop died so he went out and spent $600+ on a new HP laptop. Then he took both the old and the new laptop to the computer repair place and had them transfer the data from his old laptop to the new one. Afterwards he goes home and promptly lays the “old” laptop on the lawn and goes postal on it with a pick axe. The only problem is that he somehow confused the new laptop with the old one.



Now he has to go buy another new laptop and go right back to the repair shop and have them do another data transfer a few hours after they did the last one. Can’t wait to hear what he tells them when he explains they need to transferee the same data to another laptop a few hours after they just transferred the same data to another laptop.

I've done many computer repairs and have seen some violent acts done to computers, mostly kicking and punching...but never with a pick axe. That takes a seriously disturbed person to do that.
Computers have feelings too.

If you own a laptop you have to have a pickaxe.. sometimes they come in sets... or if you're real lucky they might just throw one in with the purchase of a laptop... Mellow

In all fairness Robert gave me the go ahead to post this. He basically said he deserved the feedback because in his words it truly was a bonehead move.

Maybe Robert does too? He didn't want to make the mistake of taking his laptop to the repair guy and forgetting about it like Hunter. He figured the pick axe was the permanent solution to erasing the evidence. It's too bad he picked the wrong laptop to unleash his rage.

Why a pick axe? I mean, there are muuuuuch better ways to dispose of a laptop. Heck, if you don't directly hit the hard drive with the pick axe, you likely aren't even damaging any data.

He shoulda just wiped it. With a cloth.

it's the axe's fault...it was a pick axe...and it picked wrong...he should take it back and get a refund, plus the money to replace the laptop.

Those high capacity pick axes have been known to go on laptop killing sprees all by themselves. I think only professionals should own them.
