I got a deal on a box of La Aurora Preferidos Diamond from a reputable online dealer, and they've been sitting about 3 months. I go to smoke one and I could feel something on my lips so I wipe and find dark brown, then its on my hand, I put the cigar down and stains there too. I do kind of wet the cut end and that turned it to brown paint. After wetting and wiping it off a couple times it wasn't a problem and was a good smoke. I hoped it was just one but seems not. Any insight?

Sounds like you got some special sauce!

I have no idea. You don't seem to be complaining about bitterness, so it doesn't sound like tar. I'm interested if anyone else has ever encountered this.

No, not tar, it's on the outside on the wrapper even without lighting.

I sent a customer service request in asking about it. If they offer to take them back I'll let them, if not I'll need all of your addresses so you can try cigar finger painting too.

Pretty sure Rocky is the king of dyed wrappers…
Wouldn’t surprise me if others do it

But the Preferidos Diamond is not a maduro, as I remember. Is it? Seems odd that they would try to dye a natural.

The advertising says it's a CT Broadleaf so it should be dark but definitely lighter with the coating licked off.

La Aurora Preferidos Diamond is an elegant entry to the plethora of gems. Cloaked in a dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper from the United States with a Dominican binder, and filled with quality tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Smooth and creamy, Diamond offers a medium profile with hints of coffee, toast and cocoa. This is not a cigar that is to be smoked with haste, sit back and enjoy a moment of peace with the La Aurora Preferidos Diamond.

Hmmmm…..I’ve only enjoyed the Ruby’s which are a maduro wrapper.

I thought they all had different wrappers.

Maybe you got internet cigars instead of B&M cigars.

we had a thread many years ago about dyed wrappers.
I remember a zillion years ago I smoked a bunch of Onyx, liked the cigar at that time, but always got dye on my lips and fingers.

Platinum is my favorite by far. Never had any of the Preferido line do that to me.

I've never returned cigars but when I reached out to the online retailer, they said no problem and took back the opened box with a few missing. I ended up putting the credit toward a box of Fuentes.

I’ve had more than a few of the LA Preferido line (and smoking one right now), love them all.

Never had that issue. Might be a distributor issue?

It is strange. Now that I think about it, I think it was you Huzza, who turned me on the LA Preferido. The cigars you sent me were great. Anyway, the vendor took them back so I don't have them anymore. But for science I think there is a single in the box pass. I think maybe Sob has it. Sob, give the thing a lick and tell us what you think. Make sure you have a napkin and water.
