Here in NY the temps are in the 90’s and the humidity is crushing. I’ve been storing my stuff is tupperdores with Bovedas with good results. But now with the AC struggling to keep the place cool my Tupper temps are over 75* so I’m scared of beetles.
So, that Amazon gift card my sainted mother got me for Father’s Day went to a Needone electric humidor. It’s coming Sunday
I feel like it’s almost a waste of money but the thought of losing some of these precious cigars( some of them gifts and or recommendations from you fine folks) bugs the hell out of me.
See what I did there…bugs?

Anyway. Wish me luck. Smoke em if you got em and for Gods sake stay cool and hydrated!!

As has been said………….many times………..tupperware is fine if your rh and temps are relatively sane.
If not, such as the situation you find yourself in now, coolers are superior, in many ways.
Good luck with the electric one….

Will a cooler keep the temp at 70 or below?

Too many variables to say yes or no.
If you are in there rummaging around looking for a certain cigar, and you leave it open for a couple minutes, well….
Also, depends on how full you have it, where you have it, etc.

It WILL absolutely perform better than a plastic tub in any scenario.

I think it's less obvious. I have two coolers and 4 all-weather plastic bins with seals, and the plastic bins keep the humidity in / out better. Not huge amounts better, but I've also put gasket tape in the coolers to help them seal better. If you go with coolers, either get some with seals or inspect them to see if you can put gasket/weather tape in them. It was easy in one of my, perfect groove to use, and kinda a pain in the other.

The coolers do help buffer temperate changes short term, but over the course of a week or so, there's not much difference, IMO. And once the temperature is high in the cooler, it's slower to come down because of the insulation.

Everybody has their preferences. For my money, I'll replace the plastic bins once the seals go. I probably won't replace the coolers.

I like the bins too.^
I also have one of those electric cooler things. I leave mine unplugged. It works for me.

Yeah the humidity is pretty much being handled by the Bovedas. It’s the temps that are doing me in. I put the tupp right in front of the ac and the RH went up!
I never gave too much thought to the rep but once it hit around 78 I knew I was in trouble. Needless to say, it’s hot here. Though I’m outside now with a RP Decade and it’s not too bad

Hmmm……….never thought about the cooler taking longer to cool down.
Thing is, I dont let them get that hot!
My house stays between 60 and 73, 365 days a year………..I’m lucky.
Also, not all coolers are suitable for cigar storage, and same applies to plastic tubs I suppose.
Having a quality lid seal is critical, and then you further improve the quality of the seal with appropriate tape.
I do live in a friendly climate, and I’m sure that makes a huge difference.
