Growing up in the 1960's this law was always in the news thru the 60's-70's -80's....all the time ...
Then in the 1980's with the start of M.A.D.D. MUDDERS against drunk driving all the laws started to change....I can remember seeing articles in the paper of peeps wiping out whole families in auto accidents in the 60's with ZERO REPERCUSSIONS....

THAT CHANGED QUICKLY....

THE statute of limitations has been challenged mostly recently with the CATHOLIC PRIEST SEX ABUSE CASES...
BUT AFTER THE PANDEMIC??? THESE 10-20-30 YR OLD RAPE CASES seem to be gaining all over America and I would love to read an article about why and how this is changing U.S. LAW....

This latest Russell Brand The comedian, podcast/ youtube guy is just about to get cancelled by cancel culture or possibly arrested unless he can quell the upswell of women's claiming assault...way way beyond the "7 years" timeline....

No statute of limitations on cancel culture, they can come back years later to make bogus allegations.

Russell Brand upset the wrong people in power positions.
So, ain't it funny that all of a sudden there is this upswell of women's claiming assault from way back? Think
I smell Jacobins.

I haven't followed much on this, I wasn't surprised by the allegations though. Claims have been levied against him in the past (not in court as far as i know) by a former girlfriend. Is he actually being charged with anything in the US courts? or is it civil? i admittedly do not know how SOL applies to Civil cases.

In most states, the statute of limitations for felony sexual assault is between 3 and 10 years. However, a few states have no statute of limitations for felony sexual assault.

Statute of limitations can be lengthened or shortened by any legislature or state supreme court order permitted by that state's constitution and laws.

For example, it was just shortened from four years to two years in Florida on pending injury/negligence claims that previously had four year to file suit, but now have only two years. No bueno for injured people who have bad injuries requiring more than two years of medical care and medical recovery.

Some acts/crimes do not even have a SOL.

The BBC: HAS cancelled several Russell Brand comedy specials , pod casts residuals, and cancelled his comedy special programs from their streaming services income payments and will not broadcast anything

There’s been claims made, haven’t heard of any charges.

Pretty hilarious both BBC and YouTube’s public comments…..MACS I think this is less to do with the left than it is Big Corp making a point.

Could be civil. Criminal would likely have a longer or indefinite SOL for alleged sex crimes.
