Yessir... ain't doing nothing is good... can't make it worse. Any legislation will certainly not make anything better, unless they're voting for smaller government and term limits.

I haven't missed having a head honcho Speaker in the House one bit, you know "doing the people's business" and stuff.

I did hear something funny on the news today. Neocon Warmonger Never Trumper Bill Kristol tweeted support for Demo-Commie Hakeem Jeffries:

Quote:
When Hakeem Jeffries is elected Speaker next week with moderate Republican support, he should restore to Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer their Capitol hideaways—and also follow House custom and courtesy in providing a hideaway to former Speaker McCarthy.

In victory, magnanimity.

It WAS the biggest joke in the country, supplanted only by x# of Dems supporting Hamas.

Just when you think the Republicans are going to take the title for ineptness two years in a row, the Hamasacrats say “hold my beer.”

Most of the Right Wing shrills here are too busy loving the chaos - and soon will find a way to pin it on Biden.

Jim Jordan is the best solution R's can come up with after 13 days without a Speaker of the House? He already lost when he ran against Scalise. Yet, his hat is still in the ring? WTF. He's going to have to promise a lot to a lot of different R factions, just like McCarthy had to, to win. We saw what that led to. No way I want him to be second in line to the presidency, let alone Speaker of the House.

Wouldn’t matter, as with first in line to be president is such a horrific option that there won’t be anything left once we get there. Herfing

Not sure what to even say... its like watching a train wreck. Cant look away but, know it wont end well... the GOP is allowing itself to be held hostage by a few members of the party and they are showing that they can not govern themselves yet they expect Americans to trust them to govern the country.

What is really interesting, and I think under-discusssed, is that the only reason these eight republicans are able to effect so much disruption is because of the assistance of EVERY democrat in the house. They get to vote as well. Had they decided not to oust McCarthy, or decided to vote for Jordan, this would be over.

Having said that, I think it's crazy that we think these 8 Rs are nutz for saying enough to overspending, no line item veto, etc... I bet if you asked 1000 Americans where any of them stood on the issues underlying the arguments of the 8 Rs, the vast majority would say "hell yes we need a balanced budget, line item vetos", etc...

Why should the D's vote for Jordan? Blaming them is purely a political hit. He is particularly unacceptable to them. Unless the R's come up with a candidate the D's can live with one cannot expect that of their support. Then, some R will get their votes.

Jordan is nothing but a bombastic idiot. He has never passed a bill in over 16 years in Congress. Unqualified for many other reasons in my eye

As to the 8, some of what they stand for is right on the mark. But, their delivery method and some of the characters involved are so tainted that it will make it impossible for them to get things done.

Yes - but if you are Republican you must blame everything on the Democrats. Especially their own parties MAGA nut jobs.

If a few Dems would have supported McCarthy, they wouldn’t have Scalise or now Jordan in contention.

On the upside, if this high strung, fire breathing cracker does get the position, and through a string of events becomes president, we can finally get to full on Dr. Strangelove and get us to the apocalypse quicker.
So there is an upside.

Yup, if Jordan is the speaker the apocalypse will start.

Maybe just a bit hyperbolic? (Hint: Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Hamas/Hezbollah might be a bigger threat)

Exactly! The DNC is admirable in lockstep 100% of the time. Good and bad, mostly bad. There is no shame to their game. I can list examples if you want. I'm free most of the afternoon.

You'd prefer 20 (whoops, now 22) Dems to cross over and support Jordan?
Of course you'd then have to denounce Jordan for receiving Dem support.

I may be speaking out of school, but I assume he’d (DMV) prefer there not be so many 💩 Republicans that don’t care about what’s actually best. Not most profitable for the uni party in dollars and power.

Again I may be wrong

There is an opportunity in every crisis. You know that.

The Republicans have traditionally the adults in the room. Now that the Republicans have showed themselves to be on par with the Democrats in level of disfunction, and knows we are broke and over extended, Hamas is making the most of it.

GEORGE SANTOS FOR SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE!

Thank you for pointing out what should be obvious to others, but is not. Nominate a R who is more middle of the road and respected as an individual by both sides. That will negate Gaetz and his ilk's control.

The country’s destiny is Democratic Socialism, a collapse of the dollar, and a default on the national debt. We continue to move more in this direction every year.

We are stopping MAGA semi-fascists with Democratic Fascism. (It’s better because it has Democrat in the name.)

The media and DNC narrative has defined Trump MAGA supporters as semi-fascist. In a few years Mitt Romney will be considered borderline right wing extremist.

As long as the Rs are going to be overtly acting crazy, and feeding the farthest right of their constituents through Gaetz, Jordan and The 8, the marginalized, moderate majority will tune out and turn off.

Surprised (although I shouldn’t be) the R’s learned nothing by getting schlonged in the midterms.

Like I said in a different thread, they have to settle down, play more to the center of the party, gag the 8, much like the left has generally quieted the Squad, win the general election with a candidate not named Trump, then move the country right.

Or, they can continue what isn’t working, and create even stupider theatrics (I thought Herscel Walker was a dumb move- oh, those were the days when the dumbest things they did was run him and Oz).

Maybe they can blow the dust off of David Duke and have him be speaker of the house? Yeah, super stupid and unlikely. But the last two years the Rs have been exactly that.

Don’t worry HD, you elites will be fine.

Don't hate the game. Hate the playas? McCarthy set himself up to be the sacrificial lamb in this. Thinking he could ram home more spending? Last straw for a few that stood up for what they were sent to DC for. That is the way I see it, and they didn't do anything outside of their rules. Now, not having an acceptable replacement in the wings shows me that from a national level, the GOP doesn't have their crap together. They better figure it out and elect ham sammich for what 14-16 months and get it over. Going into a general election isn't going to bode well with this branding.

I agree, but disagree to the extent their tactic(s) don't work for getting anything done right now, not even their goals.

R's simply need to put someone up who both sides can hold their noses at, but who will start getting things done. This needs to be settled now. Not at Jim Jordan's ongoing dalliance.

I don't know why anyone would want the D's and R's to work together. When STUPID AND EVIL work together, you get STUPID and EVIL legislation.
