Was in my local B&M yesterday. the place is beautiful, with great selection and pretty good prices. I get to the Plasencia section and there are boxes there riddled with mold. Not just a few dots here and there...tons of it! I call the guy behind the counter in and tell him he's got a few thousand dollars' worth of ruined smokes and if some poor guy buys one and gets sick, it could be a problem.
He said he would mention it to the owner. My heart was broken looking at all those beautiful Plasencia dying up there.

Tragic.

That's what happens when people go crazy about humidification.

That's not mold. It's bloom. :-&

I remember going to this place in Delaware a long time ago, going in the humidor, and it was like a steam room. Literally, humidity fogging up the place. There was stuff just covered in mold. Like an addict, I had to have something, so I found a cigar that didn't seem too bad and bought it. Of course it didn't smoke worth a chit, harsh, terrible burn, because it was so over-humidified. Never went back. I don't know if they're still in business.

Bummer……..there has been a couple similar stories here where the manager/owner tries to tell customer it’s plume……..rare and desirable.
Heh…
10-12 years ago or so there was a little shpo in a small town near me that was basically a cig shop, but did have a smallish walkin humi.
As noted above, the humidity was palpable when walking in, and mold was abundant.
I was kinda scared just breathing in there.
I tried, and tried, and pleaded with the owner’s wife, on multiple occasions, to do something about it.
(Her husband was the owner, but he was on his way out with health problems, and was never in the shpo.)
Her reply was basically that I was the only one who ever complained about it.
It was depressing…….I never went back, and thankfully the cigar selection was somewhat mediocre.
It would have been criminal had there been high end stuff in there….
