Happy Daniels was given the award he deserved.

Based on those odds at the time I would have put a dollar on Penix, knowing committees can and do make mistakes.

SMH when I saw the FSU QB finish fifth. Great symbol of their season- no seat for them in the big events.

I don’t have an ACC team I pull for. Going forward, it is FSU.

I agree and not because I’m a die hard LSU fan. When all his stats were combined no one was close. I know a lot of Washington fans are upset that Penix didn’t win, but from what I saw their argument was based on him leading his team to an undefeated season.

But, the Heisman is about the individual, not the team. Had it not been for a pick six by the Husky defense it’s possible they would not be undefeated. Since Penix doesn’t even play defense I don’t think the W/L record should be part of the equation when considering an individual achievement award.

On a different subject, I think it could be reasonable argued that had LSU had even a mediocre defense it’s not out of the question to believe they could be the top seed in the CFP. If that were the case it would also render moot the argument about team performance when considering an individual award.

Preseason, I put a few bucks on LSU to be national champion. Was getting 16-1. Didn’t realize how vulnerable their secondary was. Oh well.

At the time it was as good a choice as any other. I can’t tell you how many times I completely lost it watching that inept defense. We’ve had 2 years of this nonsense. Hopefully, BK can read tea leaves. If he doesn’t make major changes and has another season of chitty defense he’ll be the next SEC head coach with a huge buyout.

Oh and by the way Russ, don’t limit yourself to the secondary. It was a complete failure. A perfect storm of less than adequate players, poor schemes, an extremely complicated game plan and other 💩. It seemed like every down the defense was trying to figure out what slot to line up in, who was covering who….. On top of that the secondary gave a minimum of 8 yards of cushion. Sometimes more every play. Doing that all a receiver had to do was go 6-7 yards and turn around. There was no defender to challenge them. Keep doing that every play and before you know it your opponent is in the red zone.

I was pulling for Nix but the second defeat to Washington shut the door on that.
Daniels is a hell of an athlete.
