Like Jake, I have never had any issues.
Havent smoked a ton of them, maybe 40-50?
I really like how the second half transitions into something creamier and stronger than the first half.

What vitola did you box buy and from where?
(Need to know what to avoid)

Hopefully just a bad batch?

Purchased on 2/16/23 from Cigars of Habanos, 2 boxes (20) of Sublimes...first box a gift to my son, apparently okay as he didn't tell me about any issues... second box had the thin wrapper and unraveling problems.

Mine were probably older than that. Hope it’s not a new issue

Thx
I’ve only purchased them from tenski and the other place.
Various vitolas, but no Sublimes.
Hopefully just a bad batch, because CH typically has good construction from my experiences.

I've smoked about 7 and gifted a few...4 of the seven had the issues...I hope the ones I've sent off were okay...if not, my apologies.

I have a work-around for the remaining half box/10...if the wrapper cracks. I'll use some pectin and a blank cigar band to hold the wrapper in place, sliding the band up as I smoke...PITA, but it'll salvage what is essentially a good smoke.

Pick some of these up during their big sale… But haven’t tried one yet.
I am looking forward to it, however. Maybe today…

Tenski Place has the Double Robusto (toro) and the Edmundo (robusto) for $17.49 per 5pk if you buy four of them.

Passing on the deal... I'm done buying for a while.

Wasn't me. I don't buy much if anything here anymore. Rarely is there a deal and even if there is, I'd rather just hit "checkout" rather than worry about getting outbid on 2 of the 3 things I wanted and then paying to ship the single fiver that I won. The auction format was fun for a while but I'm not interested in throwing out 20 bids to see what sticks. I'd rather just buy exactly what I was looking for in the quantity I wanted. I signed up for email alerts from a ton of different places to see their sales so if they got something I want at a price I'm willing to pay I'll just buy rather than putting in the effort and time dealing with auction format.

I will occasionally throw out a bid on a single lot at the auction sites but I leave it at the minimum bid to enter and never look back. If someone wants to pay more, they can have it. I only do this with the staples I keep in my humidor. Last one was T52 coronets pack of 50. Threw out an opening $65 bid, still had 10 at home so when I was outbid I didn't care. Threw out another $65 bid and won it. But after shipping and taxes it was $114, where I can sometimes find em on sale for around $80 and check out for around $120 lots of places are free shipping over $100 or so. $6 isn't really worth it. And the international stores aren't collecting taxes.

Thanks danm and Jake…seems like the most appreciated brands usually don’t have much of a deep discount and the cat turds I can get cheap. I wonder why nobody is running up the bids on cat turds? 😂

Oh, I’m busted. I paid waaaaay more than I wanted, but I wanted to try them because YOU talk about them and I look upon thee, oh great one, as an OT to emulate. So blame yourself, you’ve created a monster 😂
Take solace in the fact I overpaid?? 😝

Whew…I gotta learn the language here. I got a fiver for $18 so I don’t feel so bad now. I wonder if I can superglue these cuts in my wrist or if I’m gonna need stitches?

I like Crowned Heads. I've liked all of the Las Calaveras I've smoked, looking forward to this year's release. Mil Días is good, Four Kicks (and Mule kick), Le Patissier, Le Careme. I'm down. I have some Jericho Hill that I've never tried, gonna break out after they rest a little more and I get more space to put them out.

Meh...typical huckster shuck and jive tactics.

1st run...GREAT!

Go back years later and buy the same label...you wasted your money.

Eh………..imho, CH has been pretty darn good and consistent since their inception.
Some of their “specialty” runs are over priced and over hyped probably, but I think overall the brand is solid.

YMMV...My experiences are what I put. Sticking with it. More so because this is the 2nd vendor that the "pump and dump" marketing has been used with that I know of.

I dunno if Jon Huber is your “typical huckster” but he’s certainly close to that quadrant. Imho, Kyle Gellis is much closer to that “huckster” label…although he has come up with some great blends. While Kyle has toned down his “Limited Edition - sure to sell out!” marketing spiel, he certainly puts out his fair share of so-called “Hard to find” releases.

With that being said, I wholeheartedly agree with the “1st run…GREAT!” sentiment. Perfect case in point is the Las Calaveras EL2014. That release was wunnderbar but the subsequent La Imperiosa line, which was said to be close to the 2014’s, wasn’t. After that, I rarely bought a CH blend that I enjoyed, a second time unless it was within a year of its release.

I suppose.
For instance this offering…
Crowned Heads Le Careme Pastelitos LE 2023

Same cigar, except they added an Ecuadorian leaf to the binder, and call it a Limited Edition, and charge a premium………fan boys suck it up.
I’m not buying them until the price comes waaaaaay down.

But hey, at least they added that Ecuadorian leaf!

I stick to Mil Dias, Le Careme and Imperiosas.

You expanded on my point. Thank you.

When I went to the store 10 years ago and bought several cigars...A Fuente WOAM, An Ashton VSG Maduro and a Padron '64 they were sublime. Bought the same trio around Christmas...guess what? It was just...like...I remembered...them tasting like. Without fail, those are what I chose to smoke for "special days"...holidays...days I really want to unwind and let my hair down. Guess what? They NEVER fail me. There are others that fill that category too. Perdomo's latest offerings...STELLAR! Montecristo Nicaragua toro...same. The Montecristo Espada Magnum Especial don't quite have the age to the lineage but they haven't disappointed yet. I have more cigars in my pocket that I'm keeping to myself right now that fit the bill as well. So, how is it that several manufacturers that enjoy high ratings, and ravings...can't deliver year after year...decade after decade? My take is that they're doing a "Hit and Run" operation on purpose. They secure fields for a short time, or buy out others that couldn't make it to market and you get what you get. They (BUY!) get some ratings in trade magazines that are known to be "on the take" and VIOLA...the rush to buy their product is on. Yet, they can't deliver because they don't own the fields, they don't control the operation and they can't maintain quality.

Understand that this pastime we enjoy, this endeavor to chase the "dragon"...this passion is the same that fuels the golf club industry, the fishing industry, the car manufacturing, the music business...if it hits it has to again. If it doesn't its a "one hit wonder". Those that can replicate the experience...pay attention...they want your business. They're trying to earn it. I actually applaud the Perdomo model. He's kept prices down, fought legislation and is willing to take a loss to bring to market the same product. He's earned my business. Each and every time I meet him, I shake his hand and tell him "THANK YOU". He's seen me enough to know why I say it. He know he has me in his pocket. He's delivered. Shouldn't all of our passions at least try...try to earn that business. Earn that dollar. Gain the respect...and shouldn't you pay it forward, pass the word and continue to purchase from them?

THAT'S where I'm coming from. Thank you for moving the ball forward bro. Aloha! (hope I earned that to use the word like I did!) and keep on being you!

Crowned Heads do make a few consistently good lines... I still like the Jericho Hill and Four Kicks...most in my stash are 4-5 years old and I when they're gone, will prolly get fivers of each to see if they've changed much...when the IR expires, of course...

I gave up on chasing Perdomo several years ago, when it seemed as if they were putting out new fancy named lines every year or so...Barrel Aged...Estate Selection Vintage...Small Batch...20 and 30 year Anniversary... Double Aged... Reserve... Fresco... Slow Aged...

The 10th Anniversary Champagne and 10th Anniversary Champagne Noir are definitely the consistent blends that I think DMV is referring to... and I still buy them after all these years...

One thing about Perdomo is that construction is spot on and consistent in my experience.
But I don’t buy too many anymore, because for the coin, I have too many others I like more.
