Dave seems someone is spoofing your email. Every few weeks sometimes more frequently I get an email that’s shows up with your name in the header with the subject “From the family of *** ***”

It’s got a link to click on. Not me…. If you click on your name one of those extremely long domain names shows up.

Never click on a link in an email unless you are sure that it's coming from a trusted source.

Depending on your email software, it should not only show the name in the from header but also the email address from where it's coming from. For example, if my email address shows up as [email protected] (made up email address for the spam bots to find) but the real email address is like [email protected].... it is 99.999% a spam or phishing email hoping you click on the link which can lead to some huge headaches at a later time.

Phishing is the single most common form of cyber crime. Don't take the bait.

I worked in the IT field for 12 years. The last 4 doing network security. No way I was clicking on the link.

Sadly, a lot of folks don't know to not click on links or popups. I would think, now days, it would be common knowledge but what is common knowledge for some is not common knowledge for others. For example, common knowledge for a landscaping person (what plants grow best here or there) would not be common knowledge for me.

A landscaping person would probably have the same thoughts if I tried to plant things that don't grow in my area or the appropriate place.

"Can you believe that the idiot planted ferns in full Sun exposure and then some banana plants in MA?"

(Transparency: I did not try to grow bananas in MA but did try to transplant some ferns where they caught too much Sun).

If you get an email from [email protected] that one is legit.
