I’ve smoked cigars on and off for the last five years. I haven’t tried a ton of different brands, and I wouldn’t consider myself any sort of snob or aficionado, but I am curious to know some of your recommendations, based on a few of the ones that I really like. I’m not looking to spend a ton of money per stick, and the ones that I have tried that I like the most are Gurkha beast, and widowmaker. I seem to gravitate to the dark wrappers, some of the dark cigars are A little too intense for my liking, though too, if that helps frame any advice. I don’t necessarily care for the real spicy notes, the sweeter chocolate and coffee type notes are usually my preference. Any input is appreciated, just looking to expand my horizons without wasting money on stuff I won’t like.

Wrong forum noob.

Ram has a bat.

Ill be nice tho. When I first started I bought into the ad writers and bought the gurkhas too. They're 99% chit cigars. Ignore that brand and you'll be better off for it.

Read halfwheel reviews. Read the whatchu asshats smoking thread. Buy from independent brands, not general or altadis which is most of the legacy brands. If it has a Cuban cigar company name but is sold in the US, it won't be unique or stellar.

Once you find one you like, find out the wrapper/binder/ filler makeup and look for others with similar blends. Find out who the blender was, then look up other lines made by them.

You're gonna smoke a lot of stinkers before you find the "good stuff". Price doesn't necessarily make it better. Plenty of good smokes in the $3-5 range. Lots of stellar smokes in the $5-8 range.

I'm a friggin' aristocrat... so my recommendation will be Padron's, Arturo Fuente's and Ashton VSG's.

They're expensive, depending on where you live, but they're damn good.

^ they are good

I’ll recommend the my father la duena. I like the lancero the best. It’s more of a lonsdale. Pretty medium bodied. Good cigar. I smoke more full bodied stuff but I really like that cigar

I'm with MACS, Padron's, Arturo Fuente's and Ashton VSG's. You might also try Cohiba Black, you can get them here for around $3/cigar and they're good.
