Well... I think this is absolutely WRONG. What do you folks think?

The San Francisco Elections Commission has, for what is believed to be the first time in history, appointed someone who isn’t a U.S. citizen—who isn’t legally allowed to vote—to serve as an official.

The officer, Kelly Wong, was sworn in on Feb. 14, local news outlet KQED reported. It said that Ms. Wong, an immigrant rights advocate, is a native of Hong Kong who arrived in the United States in 2019 for graduate studies.
She was sworn in by Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin during a ceremony at San Francisco City Hall after winning unanimous support from the board.

“This appointment is a milestone for all immigrant and marginalized communities throughout SF,” Ms. Wong wrote in a LinkedIn post on Feb. 15. “Representation matters: thousands of immigrants living in the city hold stakes in politics and there’s no better way to have us be represented than to serve in leadership positions.

“I am deeply committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of immigration status, has a seat at the table in shaping the future of our city.”

Wong’s appointment is the result of a 2020 voter-approved measure that removed the citizenship requirement to serve on San Francisco boards, commissions and advisory bodies.

Sounds fine to me.

The next thing you know, they'll make it legal for Chinese nationals surging over the border to run for higher offices.

I thinky the real question is whether she can perform her job, will follow the law and procedures without bias and with honesty. But, it still doesn't smell right.

It's all fun and games until it isn't. You live in Texas. You're protected by people who vote much smarter than you do. If you think it's so fkn great, pull chocks and move to California, where the people vote the same way you do.

G'head... live in SF with all the homeless, the sheit and the crime. You won't. You'll virtue signal from your safe space. Safe because the majority of people around you vote opposite of you.

I missed the part that stated she was an illegal alien.
Is that true?

I think Frank’s point is that she is a legal alien, not an illegal alien and therefore your entire complaint is overruled and you are a xenophobic semi-fascist racist. I’m paraphrasing.

Normally one would expect commission members to be stakeholders. She can’t vote so she’s not a stakeholder.

Yes, Frank. I moved, though...

I'm trying to be better and it's making me look bipolar. LOL

I'm very disappointed in the direction our country is headed, and where it has been headed for some time. I am also very disappointed that people just don't see it. It baffles me how some do, and some just don't... or choose to be willfully blind to it.

I hope you'll pardon me when I get belligerent. It's that disappointment surfacing. I'm not angry at anyone in particular. It's more directed at the gov't than people, though it doesn't look like that. Sad

I would definitely expect commission members to be stakeholders and therefore citizens but then I saw “result of a 2020 voter-approved measure that removed the citizenship requirement to serve on San Francisco boards”. San Francisco voters have a tremendous track record with voter approved things and San Francisco boards are a model of success.

What could go wrong?

President Xi Appointed To Serve On San Francisco Elections Commission

U.S.·
Feb 20, 2024 · BabylonBee.com

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In an unexpected move to strengthen and add legitimacy heading into the 2024 election season, Chinese President Xi Jinping was appointed to serve on the San Francisco Elections Commission.

Though the leader of the Chinese Communist Party is not an American citizen and many would argue that he has a vested interest in undermining and destabilizing the United States, proponents of the move hailed it as a landmark achievement for diversity and a step toward improved diplomatic relations between the two world powers.

"It's a move that makes perfect sense," said Board of Supervisors President Aaron Peskin. "Why wouldn't we want the leader of a rival nation playing an important role in election here in the United States? He clearly has extensive experience in politics, and his prominent position indicates that he's a man of integrity and would never do anything improper. Right?"

OK Beto.

You really should go live in California for a couple of years. Consider it a rent before you own program.

I'm with you on that as long as the avocado is not on my burger. Cheese, bacon, lettuce, and pickles. I'll accept some onions. I'll accept some sliced tomato (I'll just pick them off though) but no avocado unless it's sliced like a tomato because I can just pick it off. If it's a mush or sauce avocado thingy, I'll pick a different burger off the menu.

I like burgers with meat, cheese, meat, cheese and more meat and cheese.

Is it a wonder I needed a stent? d'oh!

I'll eat them with lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles, too... mayo > ketchup or both. Not a fan of mustard on a burger, either.

Avocado is good on toast and for guacamole and burritos... not on a burger.
