Here are the guidelines to play; please read all before posting.

Looking for 10+ players with a ship date on or around 4/20.

1. Each player will send five cigars to another player which I will post pairings using a random number generator.

2. Of the 5 cigars: one high end, one medium, and one yard gar. The other cigars in the box will be just good cigars you'd be proud to share with a friend.

3. High end above $10, medium $9-$5, yard gar under $5 (no Gurkhas, infused, 2nds or junk) those prices are the prices we'd typically pay, not msrp and are loose guidelines but be fair.

4. The first 3 listed above will be unbanded and numbered in no particular order. Sender may choose to hold onto the original bands (don't forget to write the number on the bands) or include the numbered bands in a sealed envelope again with corresponding numbers written on original bands. Reband the cigars using blank bands, strip of paper taped, written on cello, postit cigar banded, finger bags are great for this if you have em.

5. Twist is send some local or homemade treat, gizmo, craft, whatever. Some gift unique to you. Can just do a bonus gift cutter, extra cigars, whatever if this part is too much due to time constraints or lack of creativity.

6. Once you receive your box post on this thread what you received.

7. Smoke the unbanded cigars in any order and write a review of the cigar.

8. Guess if it was the high end, medium or yard gar. Turn up the difficulty and guess the exact cigar or brand if you would like.

9. Senders should not post what the reviewer actually smoked until all three reviews are complete. If the bands went to recipient in an envelope, don't open it until all three are smoked and reviewed.

10. Please try to smoke and review all three unbanded cigars in a timely manner.

11. Typical trade rules apply. If you've never traded here before, you're sending first and receipt is to be confirmed before the other sends theirs.

In fact I think it's more fun for noobs to force you to think about what you're smoking and how it's tasting/progressing and compare that to memories of other cigars you've had etc. Plenty fun for the old dudes too. I've pegged the premium as a yard gar and the yard gar a premium. It's a great reminder of how branding and cost association ties into our perceived experience. I want everyone to have fun. Blind reviews are one of my favorite things and I hope it can be one of yours as well.

If you have questions feel free to PM me.
Here are two previous ones if you want to understand how it works a little better.

Put me in, coach!
How will we know which cigar someone is reviewing if there is no band on it? I mean, I can’t say it’s the brown one. How do we differentiate?

Ok that’s easy. I’m glad we’re not using Leebo’s condom idea.

they should be numbered, match the number to the band.

Is there a website people tend to use for pricing? Am trying to prep for this and am now learning that pricing is wildly inconsistent between online shops.

Just be fair. High end should be a special occasion type cigar. Midrange the good stuff you reach for when relaxing on the patio. Yard gar an everyday knock around cigar, thr kind you smoke on the riding mower.

They should all be good cigars you enjoy smoking and think someone else would as well. Price points are there because those are usually tied to the level of cigar.

Look at previous years blind review trades to get an idea of what is sent.

I'd like one more person to avoid doing a three way. Though I spose it doesn't necessarily have to be paired trades. I'll leave it open till tomorrow and get this going.

Pairings are randomized. If you and Lee want to do a side play, I'll drop Lee from the list and you kids can play by yourselves.

Let me know if you want in, or if you and Lee are gonna do a side play.

I think we've had this discussion in the past. My take is you can easily randomize the entire group and not have to worry about an even number

Yeah, I'll just randomize the group rather than do pairings. Even or odd. It'll get locked in today.

Tele, box is out, tracking number below. After you’ve smoked all three I’ll disclose the brands. Forgive me on the additional cigars which have the band. I didn’t have a lot of boutique selections to include. I’ve got some in-bound though and I’ve got your addy now. Beware!

No I’m a “government contractor”…..

I help people until it’s been decided it’s time for them to cross the rainbow bridge. I tried helping Jonsie a few times but was just too scared of the candy in my van.
