At the November herf, 70 guys showed up ... many of them came quite a distance to attend and one came from as far away as Rochester, NY ... oh, I know ... it seems he developed a sudden need to be in town on "business", but we had guys from all over NorCal and Monterey and Fresno too ... it was one fine happening ... GR8Stag is a superb, experienced organizer of events and is one hell of a fine host ...

I'd recommend this event very highly to all you SoCal guys ... drive or fly up and stay overnight ... what the hell, you only live once and if this herf is even half as good as the last one, it will still be one of those things that are all too rare, but really make life worth living ...

Copied from another thread:

Guys,I'd love to make this herf and I've already checked into it,FWIW I checked into making the last one as well and it was the same thing.

There are just no reasonable flights early enough out of Orange County on Sunday morning to make the first kickoff and fly back on Monday morning and there are no flights out of Oakland late enough on Sunday to fly up Saturday evening.Hell Air fare is almost nothing, looks like $72 round trip, fly up sat late afternoon and fly back monday early morning about 9ish.I just can't justify the two nights hotel + taxi back and forth to the airport and stuff for a one day herf.

Now if one of the other So Cal guys wanted to go as well and split the room and sh*t we might be talkin but we only have till Sat morning to book the flight resorvations/2weeks in advance.Or if one of the guys near the Oakland airport would be so kind as to put me up on the couch for Sat-Sunday evenings I'd say I'm there!

Hell I've stayed at Rookies place two years in a row now, when JCrimmins,MrMean,Rookie and myself drove down from Chicago to meet up with USAHog for the Springfield Ill/LOL Herf and Rookies still alive...LOL

20yrs ago,oh hell 10 years ago I would have drove the seven hrs up,partied all day and drove back that night...LOL

Don't worry though I will make it up there for one of these things.I'm a Herfin fool damnit! The only other guy on this board that I know of that has more Herf mileage than myself would be our old buddy Rob Ray at least as far as I know.Well there is USAHog but Saudi Arabia on Uncle Sams dime dosen't count...LOL

CigarBid confirmed as a sponsor for the event. Thanks to Keith and Trish and Company for their continued generosity and support.

:D Caribe Cigar Company aka Camacho confirmed as new sponsor. Please help me help them with their pet project. This is from their marketing director: What we need most is soccer equipment. It can be new or used and can be balls (make sure they are deflated), uniforms, cleats, whatever you can find. Caribe is an International Soccer Sponsor and we donate alot of stuff every year! We will make sure that your items go down to Honduras and I'm sure they will be very happy to receive it! If anyone brings any other items-they also will go to great use and will be much appreciated! Thank you for your help! Thanks guys/gals in advance.

Also just confirmed Puros Indios as a new sponsor. Thank you Carlos Diez. :D

Mr. Bundles aka Uncle Mikey (Mike Banks) confirmed as sponsor thank you again for your continuing support and great sense of humor.

JR Cigars is a returning sponsor thanks go out to Lew, Steve and Nicole for their continued support. :D

Make new friends and renew old frienships, swap cigars and stories, watch a couple of football games, wager a few cigars on a game or buy a square or two in a pool with cigars, drink a cold one, smoke a cigar, share a laugh, win a prize or two, get a FREE cigar you haven't tried before, eat a GREAT calzone/pizza, smoke a cigar, drink a glass of wine, maybe a glass of vintage port, trade a cigar with someone you never knew existed until 5 minutes earlier, learn where San Leandro is, make a friend, share a smoke, who would want to spend a WHOLE day doing this????????????????

Just heard about the Herf. Sounds like it will be incredible and that Gr8stg has gone to extraordinary lenghts to put together a memorable event. Would love to make it but can't. Have a great time and let us know how this awesome event turns out.

Gr8stag: I have some baseball equipment --- 5 helmets, catchers gear, some baseballs if the orphanage would want them. Only question is pick-up/transport --- very bulky (very large baseball duffle bag)?

I will arrange to ship directly to Miami and from there it will go to the orphanage.

Well gang, the herf was Great!
A bunch of real nice guys from Cbid & other forums. I met Mark(gr8stag), Steve(SteveS), Chris(cwilhelmi), & Barry(barryneedleman) from CBid. I recommend that if you can make it to the next one, do it! Everyone won a prize! Free cigars & other stuff. Best of all made new friends and got to put a face with a name here on CBid foums!

Thanks to Mark & Steve for doing a fine job organizing it!

Mark, Steve, Chris, GREAT JOB. I had a fantastic time at this herf. Very well run, cigars, accesories and everyone was a winner in the raffle (with the proceeds going to an orphanage soccer program). It was great to put faces with names. I will make this one again (March Madness???)
