Alright, calling all "know-it-alls." I've got some CAO's stashed away in my humi, some maduro robustos, cameroon toros, and a couple new criollo patos. (The former two won right here on C-Bid)

What does everyone think of the CAO line? I've had an extreme, and it was good, but just a little to strong for my liking.

for me, no line is more complete, more perfect than CAO. CAO is really doing a lot of things right. I love em. The Gold is about as good as they come for a mild-medium cigar, and the brazillia is awesome for a robust smoke.

They are among my absolute favorite right now. I think the Cameroon box tubo has a great mix of flavors and highly recommend it.

Actually, i still have my doubts with CAO. I haven't smoked many in the past due to the fact that the ones I did smoke, all burned poorly. However, as I type this, I am smoking an Odyssey that I bought back in August on a trip to Myrtle Beach and it is burning straight as an arrow and is a VERY tasty smoke. I suppose I will have to stock up on somemore CAO's and let them age a bit more than I have. Happy smoking all!

I like the Black Label's, the Extreme's,the Odyssey's,The Gol's, but I refuse to be tricked into buying a cigar from them anymore. The Criollo is a joke of a "smoke"! I've got a feeling that's going to be the same with this cigar "du jour" too!

What do they think we smokers are? Fishermen and Golfers that always chase after the newest lure and club?

Well, just finished that Odyssey and I believe I spoke too soon. A little more then half way the cigar started to come apart and the end tunneled. Also, the ash did not hang on too long and was flakey the entire way. Just my two cents.

I love the Brazilians but not any of the other blends although they are well made. Clark

Have to say for my money they are the best, also they are the most well rounded brand on the market IMHO.

I love CAOS with the exception of the Gold line...The Brasilias are my favorites, followed by the Maduro Annys and the Extremes (with age)...I've had three or four Criollos the last week and even though I usually don't care for the Criollo wrappers (as in Cupidos), I really enjoyed every one!...The wrapper gives the cigar a little spice and the filler is very well rounded and has a lot of flavor..It's a winner in my book....The Cammie Annys are too mild for my current tastes, although I used to smoke them quite frequently

not my cup of tea. I will go for a perdomo or a fuente over these in all case.

I have found most of the CAO line to be very good. Just had a criollo and enjoyed the many flavors that were present. I did not think it was much better than the Samba however.

In the last year, the most frequently bought/smoked brand for me has been CAO. Consistently a quality product, now they've got me smoking their flavored cigars...

I'm with Huskey. The Brazilias are great, (made by Torano), the rest to me are not so good. Tough draws and construction issues. (Perdomo made). I'd say the same about the other Perdomos too. I tried the Criollo lately, didn't care for that one either, but as you can read, lot's of folks disagree.

Brazilians and Aniv. maddies, Odyssey ... all among my favorite smokes.

The few Criollos I've had were all good cigars, but overpriced IMHO ... I'm so biased against flavored smokes that I'm highly unlikely to try one ... it'd have to be free and I'd need someone standing by to take it over after I tood a couple of puffs and didn't like it ...

Bottom line: I'd say that CAO is one of the best overall lines on the market ...

Thanks for all the input fellas. It looks like the last thing to do would be give 'em a try and see how they suit me.

Hey dhofer--it seems that you have a similar taste as I do, and we're not too far apart in age. Could you throw me your email, i'd like to ask you a few questions

I like 'em. Their maduro wrapper is one of the better looking / tasting out there.

Steve, you know that the Criollo isn't the flavored ones right?...I tried the honey flavored one and it was just as bad as a Swisher Sweet...Ugh..YUCK

Good stuff. Have tried most if not all of the variations and liked them, especially maduros. Sometimes I've had burn problems but I think that was due to over-humidification by the dealer. After a week in my humidor they smoked fine. The Petite Maduros are my favorite short smoke.

I always have burn problems, flavor always seems uneventful, I would purchase more often if the price was at least 25% lower. I would rather buy comparable Fuente's or Padrons for the price, or ERDM's at substantially lower prices.

Rookie ... yes, I did know that, but in re-reading my post, I see how I gave the wrong impression ...

Criollos: good, but overpriced
Flavored: have not and will not be trying them ... I detest anything other than tobacco flavor

Of all the lines, I prefer the La'Anniversaire Maduro, Brazilia, and Black. They are some of my favorite cigars. I have yet to experience a problem with a CAO cigar.

Also, I am not one for flavored cigars, but I did happen to try the Bella Vanilla Petite Corona the other night. It was a chaser for my Astral TVS. Very good smoke...creamy and sweet; I thought I was eating ice cream with the flavor and smell.

I do want to try the CAO Millenium. Anybody have any lying around? Jon? :)

Cameroon toros and extreme robustos are medium/full bodied and excellent. Extreme toros are medium bodied and are pretty good. Brazilia amazon is also medium bodied and is pretty good. Gold label corona is pretty dependable-medium body, one dimensional but okay smoke. Have a five pack of the extreme lancero aging now, but have not tried them yet. Don't like maduros, so won't be trying them. From what I've smoked so far, CAO is one of the better non-cubans available.

Well, I have to say that CAO Gold aren't bad, but a Feunte any day over any of them. Camacho ain't bad either and MUCH cheaper.

In my opinion, other than padrons, CAO give you excellent quality for an excellent price. I haven't tried the gold series yet, but intend to in the near future.

For the snobs/purists out there:
I just got my two boxes of CAO's Moontrance Petit Coronas from UPS today. I am enjoying one right now...

BTW, if I had to rank CAO's lines, I'd have to say:
1. CAO L'Anniversaire Cameroon
2. CAO L'Anniversaire eXtreme
3. CAO Gold
4. CAO L'Anniversaire Maduro
5. CAO Brazilia
6. CAO Flavored

Haven't tried the CAO Black yet.

CAO Brazilia's a little over priced for the cigar, and I didn't like it all that much

65th Anniv was good, but not worth the $12 I paid for it, I'd rather have a PAM

The Criollo was very good. I really enjoyed that, but if you buy by the stick, it's really pricy. I picked up a box, which makes things really inexpensive in the end, but expensive right now because I had to front the money.

I visited my barber this morning, even though it's not my 'haircut week" ... gave him a Brazilian and told him to enjoy it on Christmas ... another of the omnipresent regulars who often hangs out there on Saturday mornings with me commented on what a damn fine looking cigar it was and asked what brand it was ... he's not a cigar smoker and is unlikely to try one, but after hearing the favorable comment from myself and our barber, he was convinced it was one he'd try if he ever were to experiement ...

I, on the other hand, was so taken by my own comments, I had to light one myself and am just now finishing it ... IMNSHO, it's one damn fine smoke and one I'd never hesitate to recommend.

The Brazilla GOL is not only a kick ass smoke, it is a good looking cigar! I like the flavor and the hints of herbs and I will compare it to a Partagas Black! Note to myself to duck the "incoming" cause I just put them on my "6"!!!

Like any good magician, Slim's not going to reveal the secret of the "re-emergence of the disappearing thread" ... most of us believe Slim had it in HIS belly button all along, and used slight of hand in pretending to pull it out of yours ...

All I did was type in the title of your thread in 'Search the Boards' and made sure it said 'All Messages' ...

... and there it was!

Keith@cigarbid was right ... it just fell to the second page.
