I live in Vegas, and was wondering if any of you guys also live in the area. It would be great to get a group together.

Ok, I can't sleep and hate to see a lonely thread...LOL!

I'm a native San Diegan that goes to LV 3-7 times a year...next time, my hubby Mike and I'll give you a heads up...

We should be there about 1/18/03-1/20/03 or thereabouts for my dad's burial (ashes) at the Veteran's cemetary in Boulder...probably stay at Sunset...it's close to my step-mom's house.

Shoot me an email at marlapf at excite dot com...

Do you know Stinky (Bill) from Las Vegas? I met him in the 'Stratosphere Top Of the World Lounge' last October. His regular night there is Thursday.
He's a real nice guy and always offers a seat to a lover of the leaf. Tell him Ol' Mike sent ya!!

Speaking of Vegas here's a link he sent me for a Vegas herf.

www.CigarSummit.com

It is a herf intended to get people from the different Cigar BB's together for a day. You get to meet all those people you have been 'talking' to, and put faces on those names.

Marla, I will email you.

I'm not in Vegas but in Truckee, CA. about 30 min from Reno. However, I do work in Reno, and I might be attending an Art and Frame show in Vegas this January.

RZ: Have you made it to the great Smoke Out they advertise every year (1 in LV and 1 in NY)? The cost is $150, but from what I've read, it's worth it (you apparently can obtain new [give away] cigars from over 20 different companies; enjoy cigar and spirit tastings/lectures/ some food offerings; and other good things).

I live in SoCal, and make it to LV once a year for a few days ---- next time, probably in May. Not a big gambler (hate to lose) but really enjoy the strip and new hotels. Next time out, I'll let ya know. Maybe a group of us Cbidders can get together for this Smoke Out event next year???

toby and i have been going to vegas since late 63. the first hotel coming in on las vegas blvd was the hacienda. we used to twice a year for 4 days at a time.

now we try to get there 3 or 4 times a year and stay two weeks. the town has never bored me. the city changes things almost every time we go there. new hotels, new places to eat, same old tourists with wide eyes, thinking they are goin to win money.

last few time we were in town we went to green vally and the green vally station. it's very close to what vegas used to be.

let's compare notes:

best prime rib. el cortez. used to have the best lamb chops but they are not on the new menu.

best deli. stage deli in ceasers and in the green valley station.

most annoying casino. aladdin. only casino i have gotten lost in, trying get out. at least in the last 10 years.

best strawberry chicken. orleans.

only hotel gift shop that sells glue for false teeth. arizona charlie's

most over rated hotel. bellagio. short stack $11.00.
cheap toilet paper.

busiest hotel all the time. orleans.

best middle of the night shopping. home depot open 24 hours. better then kmart. if you can't find something you can use at homedepot, you are not looking hard enough.

vegas has the best libraries in any town.

best place i have found to smoke a cigar. under the light show canopy in the outside tables and chairs area at some casino about a block in from the new theater downtown. south side. go inside and get your drink of choice and sit through a few light shows. i save my isoms for that spot.

when we get to vegas in feb, i'd be happy to meet you and whoever, there one evening for a little smoke out.

phone number and any chit chat to [email protected]

Rick, I just noticed your response. Sorry for the delay in responding. I was doing a lot of travelling.

You really seem to know the town, and I agree with the opinions you posted.

I love living here. Please let me know when you come back. I have been turing other Las Vegans on to this site as well.

Heading to Vegas tonite and staying at Harrahs. Seeing the Stones tomorrow and plan on enjoying some smokes while there. Any suggestions for good smoke shops?

There is a Tinder Box on West Sahara that has a great selection. The owners name is Irv.

There is also a place at the Monte Carlo that is pretty good, but pricey.

Closer to Harrahs is a place called the Havana Cigar Company on Paradise. Some of their sticks are over-priced, but the selection is pretty good.

email me your email [email protected]

i found you're web site and probably have played some of the games you deal in. (did i sneak that "deal" reference in?)

the indian reservation store on main street no. of freemont is the best place in vegas to buy cigars. they have monte series v, #4 for about $6.00. they have lots of junk but they have a lot of top of the line cigars at very decent prices.

worst places are the little stalls on freemont or in the malls. second worst is any casino. i have seen a hamilton at $20. and sinatra's at $15 to $25.

do what i do, buy your cigars here at cbid and take enough with you to last. but it is worth a trip to main street to visit the cigar store.

jjohnson, It's a funny thing you asked how I met Stinky.

I knew from reading different cigar boards his regular night at "The Top O The World" was Thursdays. So while in Vegas I worked it into our busy schedule to visit the Stratosphere on a Thursday evening.

My wife had already found the lounge there while I was still outside enjoying the view from the top. When I entered the lounge I noticed three men smoking cigars at the first table. An elderly lady was passing by them, pinching her nostrils shut with her right hand and fanning the air with her left. Said to myself, one of these guys is Stinky!

Walked on by and found my wife and guests and then excused myself to the restroom. Of course walked straight to that smokey table and asked if anyone knew 'Stinky!' And the rest is history.

The next time you see him ask if he rembers meeting Ol' Mike. I'm sure he will have more to add.

Hi, I'm new to the group but please take some advise on cigars at the Monte Carlo. They are really overpriced and a lot of them are dry. Their humidors don't work worth squat.
Also the Orleans has some decent cigars at decent prices. Just go back from there.
