I just received a couple boxes of cigars with the boxes still sealed in cello. Is it better to unwrap the box before putting it in the humi.? How long are sealed boxes o.k. outside the humi.?

you can put sealed box, as is in your humi. I would leave it outside the humi for max 2 weeks, recomending a week if need be. hope that helps, Luke

... why leave them out and risk them losing their humidity? Man, at my house with the heater going, that would be in a couple of days!

I just put them in right away ... and have never had a problem.

With my furnace going (25 degrees outside) the RH inside my house is 45%. Not real nice for non-humidified stogies...

I agree with Slim...why wait even a moment if you have the facilities to do it immediately? As far as unwrapping a shrink-wrapped box, I'd leave it on until you were ready to smoke one. The only reason I could see for removing the wrapper now would be if you were worried about how they have been stored and/or shipped. In that case, you may want to open the box up (even remove the cello) to allow quicker (but not too quick) moisture absorption....that is probably not necessary though (if bought from CB, I wouldn't worry).

Man, you guys have more willpower than I do. When I get a new box, I can't wait to rip into it and just look at the treasures within. Of course, the box immediately goes into the humidor. But I couldn't live without peeking at them first.

Sorry for the 'thread-jack' ... but ...

Charlie ... Los Angeles??? Man, I wish I had the means to live in the Beverly Hills area ... LOL!

... more like Brentwood, Northern California. It's between San Francisco and Sacramento.
