I have a 300 ct. humidor. It seems that if I have 300 cigars in there, the ones on the bottom won't get much humidification. How should they be laid inside, and how often should they be rotated?

IMHO, I don't rotate my cigars, except to move up stuff I smoke more often. If your humidification devices are sufficient for the box, and the cigars have been inside the box long enough to stabilize, there should be no need to rotate them. If you feel like you must, I wouldn't mess with them much more than once every couple of months. I think handling them too much does more harm than leaving them be.

Only if you are considering long term storage, should you worry about rotation. At the same time, I'm sure you don't ten, twelve stacked on top of each other for long periods of time.

Last spring I decided to re-organize my 300ct humi and brought some cigars off the bottom I'd forgotten I had ... they'd been there for close to a year, but couldn't have been better ... as was said above, if your humidifiers are working right and the box is stabilized, you've got nothin' to worry about ...

I like to play musical humidors. This is where the famed "Cigar Music" comes in (see Rickamaven, he has he has collected a few "bands"). Let's see, group by size, by color, combination, these fit better over there, keep the dog way, it's fun!

That sounds like fun. I have the same problem - "Keep the dog away."

BMW and Rickamaven, do you guys put cigars of different brands together in the same drawer? Is there an effect (negative or positive) about the "marrying" process IYO? I'm a little paranoid about that, so I keep my cigars segregated if I have the room. What is your opinion(s)?

I have a bout 6 desk top humidors. Some are dedicated to specific brands or types, like one for Padrons, one for OpusX and Fuentes, one for Bucaneros, one for Cubans and a big 300 count that catches everything else. I'll usually seperate buy style and wrapper, maduro-natural. I have an abundant number of singles, a variety of shapes sizes and colors, that I try to keep arranged with similar nieghbors. Marrying of flavors has never been a problem unless you're talking "flavored" or "Scented" cigars. Then you want to keep them in a seperate box.

i have one humidor for montecristos. i will put hemmingways in there also.

i have one for la finca and keep only for la finca.

one is for acids only and will stay that way. i think the box is acid cured.

i keep evelios on the bottom of the oak humi and some misc cigars that are a little stronger on the shelf.

the sweaterbox humidor has all ther misc crap i buy because they are so cheap, mixing them all together won't hurt and could help.

i try not to mix if i can avoid it. for most people it isn't that important. the fillers in the individual will marry, but i don't think they will marry each other.

the answer seems to be, how many humidors can i get. most people have one and have no trouble.

it's a cigar thing.

If you're worried about having to rotate your stock than the simple answer is twofold.
1. Up your consumption considerably!
2. Send me a whole bunch of the rascals!
