came for the trades.Figured some of you Bid Monsters would take larger numbers of boxes and bundles, and be afflicted with OTDO.

So where are the trades? Is that guy who just bought 20 bundles of W-Ds,(Don Tomas seconds)on CIs' listing on U-Bid going to age them for three years and trade them here? Do similar, though smaller trades happen here? I'm kinda shocked at the small amountof trades.

i think sometimes the shipping costs are more then some of the cigars.

of course you could list the package as music discs and ship it media mail.

What I'd like to know ...

... is how long is it going to take the new people to read the 'General Guidelines' and learn that they are not to post competing websites at these forums?

The site you mentioned here is in direct competiton with CI/CB, even though they are selling their product. CI doesn't 'list' their cigars at other sites, that other site buys from CI ... and just uses CI's name in their listings ...

I know this, because I posted their site many years ago, and the name was xxx'ed out by the CB staff.

I have also found that this particular 'trades' board (being on CI's Auction Site) ... is not really meant for heavy duty trading, as that sort of actitivity would surely be counterproductive, and cut down on their sales ... though a few big one's ocassionaly do come and go.

Over the few years that I've been here, it seems that the main function of this board, has been to just have fun trading for cigars that you would like to try ... before you go out and buy, or bid on a lot.

... and if that high bidder isn't retail, you'll probably see them on some 'other' auction site in the near future ... LOL!

Slim,

Take a big deep breath and repeat after me:

I won't let the newbies get under my skin
I won't let E-chick get under my skin
hmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmm

Now don't you feel better?

ken9810 --- officially? --- no.

Unofficially --- well, let's just say that they don't call me the 'Lord of Dicipline' for nothing ... LOL!

All BB's and forums all over the net have parameters in place to keep their boards from getting out of hand, and this site is no different ... except in the fact that these forums are hosted by a retail site.

So, it's just out of respect for our hosts wishes ...

... they ask us that those who post here, to follow their 'guidelines'.

No big deal ... just giving those who may not know, my typical 'reminder' ... ;^)

I'm happy to learn Slim is not a new handle for S.SAKA
Whose treatment of posters has greatly affected my support of the company that formerly employed him.

Really,he's still there? Wonder what would happen if those same customers e-mailed bids to that company?

One thing I've learned over the years, at any of the online BB's or forum's ... is it doesn't benefit anyone to have a 'thin skin'.

I'm not really sure I understand your last sentence ...

An apparent refugee from a recently closed BB who is seemingly disenchanted by Saka's attempts to keep that BB under control ...

Move along...nothing to see here! Keep it moving!

Now you see why "that" one closed down! No "rules" and dedication to the host!

Just like to practice the curve ball once in a while.
Though I wasn't a Saka -hater,and did try to inject a little tolerance on that BB.Too bad,I enjoyed a lot of what was on the JRBB.And think that CI and other vendors will benefit from it's closing.
Sure, make Lew an offer. How do you think he buys cigars? "Ok,Ken,I'll give you your asking price".

It's the Invasion of the Hurtin' PeePees! Hope the multiple personalities go elsewhere.Alan, have you been trading much here? I kinda figured there are lots of smokers here who get a 'little carried away' when bidding.Like I have in the past. So is there more action here usually (coming on after Christmas I was thinking things are slow,trade-wise) ?

Never a refugee, more a window shopper.Steve,I always thought your talents were wasted at the BB,it appears you are happier without it.As for control,I was once asked indignantly by a potential client "What's the matter, you can't control your clients? " I told him if that were the case I'd never lose a sale and my clients would pay any price I suggested. Not gonna happen,is it?

And if anyone missed the joke,Cigarbid is the only major retail cigar vendor that accepts offers.Though if you are spending enough,I'm sure Steve or Lew will listen to your offer.

But I still think closing the JRBB is a bad idea, since it sends smokers shopping possibly before they look at the company they've traded with for a long time.

My apologies to both Steve Saka and SteveS. I've seen 'S.Saka' as a handle enough times to have confused the two.

Could this be...Smitty?

hey ken. there isnt usually a whole lot of trade activity here, which IS sort of surprising. some definitely but its slow.
the guy that bought those 20 wd bundles might be a retailer; ive heard some store owners bid here to acquire stock but dont know for sure.
put some trades up and get it moving, what the hey.
hey coug.
