I bid on a watch a few weeks back on here and I won it,long with a few other items. I got everything but the watch. My paperwork said the watch was on back order. How could they put soemthing up for auction if they dont have it in stock.

It may have been in stock at the time it was put up for bid ... but they may have ran out by the time they processed your order.

These things happen, and they are always sent out as soon as they get them in, with no extra shipping charge.

When a company ships the volume of sales that CB does ... things like this are bound to happen once in awhile.

What watch did you win?

This is a new version of an old thread. It goes something like this: If you win an auction, it may ship up to 6 days later, depending on when you won it. Someone at the retail site may order that item on the same day and it would ship sooner. So they ship the retail first. Oops! That was the last one. Now your watch is backordered. Don't gripe. You will get your watch and you get it for cheap. Be glad. I have won many auctions and had one backorder. It happens. Well, how close is that to the truth guys?

You'll never get it. Your credit card has been charged and your money taken. If you call customer service you will get no answer. By the time you read this CBid will no longer exsist. You have no recourse. You've been had.

I won one of those cheap hygrometers a few years back. It did not work. I called the CBID customer service people and they were fantastic. They sent me a "pre-paid" postage box to return the item, and sent me a new hygrometer. I was nice to see a business take "customer service" seriously. Great work CID!

Most businesses work off of an automated inventory system. Sometimes the system shows that there is one or twol items left in inventory and it isn't physically there (for whatever reason).

I'm sorry but you cannot put up for auction what you don't have.

At the very least each item that is unavailble must be marked as such on the site. It does have an impact on my bidding.

I am very upset that one of my items was unavailable!

If my bid is a contract then, you had better have what I am bidding on or I should have the right to cancel my bid.

Okay Perry Mason. Why don't you sue? I hope they left it out on purpose and they send you a pink "SWATCH" instead. At least it'll match your lingerie.

Eric, are you and rockjr6 the same person???? Like I said above, most businesses work from automated inventory systems and descrepancies occur from time to time. CBID has proven (at least to me) to be a very reputable company. I am sure that they had absolutely no intention of auctioning an item they did not have in stock. It is entirely possible that in fulfilling a backordered item that they actually loose money (or in some cases loose more money). If you contact customer service immediately on a backordered item, they MAY agree to cancel - you don't know until you ask. Ask any of the "oldtimers" here, CBID customer service is unsurpassed.

Mr. Needleman..you are very confused. If you take time to read the thread you will deduce that Rockjr6 and myself differ greatly in our opinions. BTW...lose..not loose. Honest mistake. I understand the language barrier.

So far I have had some sort of problem with each of the bids I have won from CBID (I am new so have only had 3-4 orders for about a total of $200-250). Nonetheless, the customer service has been very responsive. My first order was missing an item, my second order had a bum lighter, my third order came with slight damage and my fourth order is 2 days later than UPS tracking said it would be here (still waiting). Though frustrating, the prices are great, the website is great and the forum is fantastic. If I want something immediately I can go to the local store and pay too much. I am willing to deal with it. Part of the great thing about this site is the anticipation of winning a bid and the anticipation of waiting for delivery.

This is not the only site I have ordered from, but is the most fun one to deal with. I can be a difficult customer, but CBID has been very nice anyway.

My advice, use a sun dial until the watch arrives. Enjoy it when you get it.

Your first problem is thinking that you "won" something...
I'm having a yard sale next saturday. Do you want to come over and "win" some more? The odds are good...

RZ, I've seen the toilet bowl lighter, but never the Bum lighter. What do you press to make the flame come out? Do you use butane or beans?

Hey Whiner, I've been buying on C-bid for over two years and spent well over $1M every year. The two problems I've had were small and taken care of immediately. One was a backorder and I received it two days late....BIG DEAL. Quit bitching.

Got to go, my mommy is calling!

In a 2 pack of lighters that I bought, 1 was bad. CBID shipped me another 2 pack and didn't even ask for the bad one back. Then they were out of a humidor that I "won." They offered me another that sold for $50 more, for the same price, or the option to cancel altogether. Customer service is committed to your satisfaction. Now stop being a whiney ****, tell them your problem and they'll make it right. You're fighting a losing battle if you're trying to start a customer revolt.

All of this can be resolved without resorting to childish profanity and name-calling ... we're all adults here.

Must I constantly remind some folks here that ...

"Some examples of unreasonable messages may include the use of profanity, advertising or commercial purposes, competing web sites, or disparaging an individual, a race or religion, a company, or website."?

I will not dispute that you have all received great customer service from Cigar International. That was not my point.

Again, my point is that you cannot auction what you do not have on hand.

I won several bids, but did not receive one of the items with my weekly shipment. It was backordered according to the invoice, but this was the first and ONLY mention of this fact despite the standard emails from CBid.

The Invoice did not indicate when I would receive the item. When I emailed customer service, only then did I learn it would be at least 7 to 10 days. I cancelled the deal.

I expect that if I am bidding on an item it is set aside and waiting to be sent to the winner. Name one auction site that works differently from this premise.

If this issue does not matter to you, then fine. It does matter to me.

EricWeiner --- I sent an email to Trish for you, and asked her if she would please explain to you why that will sometimes happen at this (or any) online auction site ...

... expect an email soon.

Slim, Eric and everyone else interested:

I found Gonz's post from about 6 months ago. Here goes....

Here an attempt to explain what has happened here (I'll be the sacrificial lamb for you guys, so bring it on):

We inspect every box as it comes into our inventory. We then take a physical inventory of product as it is posted for auction. (Unfortunatley we can't open each box and inspect every single stick.) Orders then come in up to a week after an auction closes (with our weekly shipping option.) So, it could be up to 2 weeks since the auction was posted and the order is ready to go out the door. So, how does that explain why a backorder happens? Good question, I'm glad you asked. Let me give you an example.

Our system says "10 boxes Acid Root". When it comes time to actually pick the 10th box (which could be a week later for our weekly shippers), you find either:
1. It's damaged for whatever reason (crushed box, opened box, etc.)
2. It's missing (or missing sticks) b/c our CSRs sent Joe Customer an Acid Root yesterday b/c he said the box he opened was stale.

We work very hard to keep every customer 100% satisfied with our service and try to react to any issue immediately. Unfortunately, backorder situations happen for a variety of reasons that are either out of our control or a direct result from an attempt to keep our customers satisfied.

I can also assure you that it's a fairly uncommon occurrence as a percentage of all the products we sell on this site. I'd be happy to investigate any backorder situation for anyone if you wish. For those of you that know me, I'll tell you like it is, no sugar-coating. If we screwed up, we'll make it right. Just let me know if I can do anything.

Gonz

Sorry - Don't buy all the nice guy stuff or excuses. Won some coffee and was shipped a different kind. Reason given was that they were out of that kind.

Two weeks later the same coffee is again on the auction. WOW! Explain that?????????

I finally just gave up after three e-mails and a phone call. Glad they weren't substituting Lone Wolfs for Padrons - OPPPPPs that might be next.

If you were waiting for a Larex, consider yourself lucky.

Mine came with a dead battery and a wristband that was broken.

On the other hand, I won a great Swiss watch that I wear to work daily.

I've won a bunch of great stuff from CBid, like the binoculars that I sent to my nephew that he's using for peeping tomism!!!

I've been satisfied with CBid. As for the Larex, it's kind of like the "Rolex" that my wife bought me in Bangkok, but not as good. The "Rolex" lasted for a month. It was the best $8 she ever spent, especially since it had diamonds!
