Occassionally find myself in a cigar bar and curious to what everyone thinks what is proper... bring your own smokes if they don't stock your favorites or make do and choose from their selection. Does it depend on the type of cigar bar, their size of selection, other factors?

There are no cigar bars here in Munford but I will tender my opinion just the same. In my travels I have learned what is a good rule of thumb: When using the services of a place of business, it is good manners to repay said use in some manner. When on the road and using a gas station restroom, buy gas. Or a pack of gum and a coke. Something. If you buy a tasty libation at the bar and smoke your own, that would be good manners IMO. To go in and smoke your own and not offer remuneration of some sort to the bar would be rude. And you would be a cheapskate.

Our local place charges a cover charge and has live music. They don't mind at all if you bring your own cigars, as long as you don't bring your own bottle. LOL.

Always bring your own, unless you brought a hooker and your looking to show her how much money you got.

I usually bring my own cigars and buy something else (coffee, beer, acces., etc). Doesn't seem right otherwise.

I usually show up, find myself a hooker, go home with her, find out she is equipped with her own "Cigar", then go back to the bar wondering how I could be so stupid and drown my sorrows.

Usually, I bring my own cigar since I like to age them in my humi before smoking. If they serve drinks, always buy a drink. If they have a good selection of cigars at a reasonable price, I may buy a cigar to bring home for future smoking.

Oh Yea... Bring your own hooker, this way the price haggling has taken place BEFORE the drinking begins!!

When our group meets we take in humidors full of cigars. So we never buy any of theirs. But we buy drinks that are ridiculously high priced to make up for it.

I feel for ya Plabonte.

Last time I was in a bar smoking a cigar it was with Mr. Mean. We were smoking Partags Lusitainias and I noticed that they had some Lone Wolfs in the Humidor on the bar. We just drank more beer and smoked our Cubans with our stash spread out all over the table. Those Lone Wolfs were probably very well aged. LOL

I will bring my own and steal Ed's (mr Mean's) hooker! The cigar bar makes enough money off of me with the booze! A great cigar bar in Dallas area is Cool River! They are in several other cities, but have only been to that one.

I dress like a hooker and enjoy the free cigars and drinks. Oh yeah, and I kick ass in the ladies pool tournament!

Funny you bring this up, as I was just thinking about it recently. While I don't go to cigar bars, I was recently speaking to the owner of a small tobacco shop who expressed his opinion that persons who are going to hang around his shop and smoke, had better be smoking his cigars, otherwise they can hit the road. He believes local tobacconists require support and that by bringing outside cigars inside it only serves to further harm the continued existence of the small shops.

I tend to think it depends upon several variables: (1) most importantly, whether you're being charged to be there; if so, then bring your own; (2) if you're taking up some small shops smoking space, then buy them there; and (3) if you own the shop, smoke everything in sight, lock the doors, and bar customers from trying to get their hands on your stache.

Smoke shops have different etiquette. If your gonna smoke there, you should buy there. Hookers are optional.

The local Tinderbox is very expensive. I tend to only buy singles, and only on rare occassions. But they have a very small back room with television and surround sound music. They don't sell booze (but I can bring my own), so it is only proper to buy my smoke there.
The cigar bar a few towns away, however, has a pitiful small selection of smokes, and they serve alcohol. So when I finally get my ass over there, I will bring my own cigar, but buy their booze.
And all will be well in the world...

My local shop rents lockers out in their humidor. I asked about storing cigars that I bought someplace else in a locker at the shop. She said no problem. I would still feel weird going in with a box, taking one out to smoke and putting the rest in the locker. The real advantage is that when they get some of those rare hard to find smokes, a phone call will put some in your locker.

I bring my own, on occassion I will see a cigar that I have always wanted to try and will buy. Other than that, they are making much more money on what you drink and eat, versus, their cigars you may purchase.

I bring my own, eat their food and drink their wine. Win-win situation. I speak with the owner often, and he's plenty happy to have me there with my smokes. He has a nice selection, it's that they're just 4 times what I normally pay for them.
