I live in Massachusetts, obviously not far from Connecticut. Since some of the best wrapper leaves are grown there, I would love to visit one of the farms. Does anyone know of names, websites, or numbers of tobacco farms in Conn.? Do they give tours? Thanks

You might check out the THE CONNECTICUT VALLEY TOBACCO HISTORICAL SOCIETY, INC. located at Northwest Park, 135 Lang Road, Windsor, CT 06095 (phone 860-285-1888)

Fields on the sides of highways.
Old barns with no doors. Leaves hanging within old barns with no doors.
I never toured, but have driven by many a time. Can't remember the exact area, so perhaps the number provided above will lead you to somewhere more inviting than the ones I've seen.

Living in Ct. almost my whole life I've never given them much thought. Like the previous post stated, big barns located along side the access hwy. leading into Hartford Bradley Airport. Not sure if they are tourable.

Thanks Spiny, you've helped me out a lot lately. I'll try that lead and see where it takes me!

If they are like the Southern tobacco farmers, watch out for the dogs and guards! LOL

If they're like the Northern Calif. growers, forget the dogs and watch out for automatic weapons.
