I was fishing a river in Northeastern Tennessee yesterday it was thirty degrees and very overcast. It was trying to snow but just could not keep it up for any length of time. It was one of those days frost forms on your hat and your nose is chilly all day but not uncomfortably cold. The fishing was slow but the company was good. I was fly fishing some slow moving water with fish being caught on a fairly slow rate but the day was perfect for fishing. After the sun started to go down I lit up an Ashton VSG and we broke out a bottle of Belgian Ale. If any of you have ever had Belgian Ale you know it goes great with a stick. Sat back drank, smoked and ate beef jerky. It don't get any better than that.

Yes, Intel; it doesn't. As a fellow fly fisherman I can attest to that. Looking forward to going back up to Idaho/Montana this Summer. Under those circumstances just about any drink goes good with a stick.

Why are you fishing for Flies?

Just kidding, good fishing with good friends with a good cigar is hard to beat.

Thanks Dave,
I grew up in Huntsville Alabama fishing for Tn. River Bass and spent a week or 2 a year on the Appalachian Trail. I crossed many a nice looking stream in Tn. but never got to fish there. I did get some nice Rainbows a little farther south in Ga.

I have done a little ice fishing in my day, ducati. There are plenty of decent places within an hour or two from where you are. Shawano Lake usually is pretty popular. Poygan is also a good ice fishing lake.

Duccati, I have done a little ice fishing up there. The crappie seems to be a popular winter fish. Jig for them or use the tip ups. Have caught some small northern. They fillet and pan cook nicely! I wonder if you can catch perch in quantity anywhere? One of my favorite eating fish. Not the ocean version though.

LMAO at BMW!
Flies are hard to catch and the pole you need to use for them is phuking small! not to mention the bait! FISH BALLS! Yep; I'm not BSin ya!

Nice web site and makes me long to wet a hook again along the surf or walk all day in Christmas bay near San Luis Pass early in the morning free shrimping for Specks along the grass banks in a foot of water. DAMN! I'm gettin teary-eyed thinking about it.

I almost lost my wife in Christmas Bay. 2 feet of water and 3 feet of mud and she's only 5 feet tall!

Yes; heard of that happening; lots of holes to watch out for not to mention the boat channel running through it. After stepping into a hole and back peddling like crazy to get out; I started walking in the bay like the old man with the white hair (Tim Conway) on the Carol Burnett show!
Caught some really nice trout walking the dead reef in Xmas bay though.
