COMMON PROBLEM: Where do you put your Acids so they don't marry with other cigars? I figured I would make a humidor out of the box partly because the box smells so great and also it is the perfect size for the cigars. Just add a rubber gasket strip to the back hinge area, a hygrometer, and a humidifier and it was all set. I had it up to 72% in a day. My fiancee thinks I am insane!...she was hoping I was building a bookshelf in the basement. LOL!

I have a box from my Def Seas that I have been saving. Now I know what to do with it! Good Idea!

PGA: Nice box. Did you do anything to it to improve the seal? I have a separate humidor for my Acids as well, but I didn't make it.

chicita banana says:

bananas like the climate of the
very, very tropical equator.
so you should never put bananas
in the refrigerator.
no, no, no, no,
cha, cha, cha.

the acid box alone will turn cigars into acids. never mix acids and any other cigar, exception if you are trying to acidify some of the cheap cigars i buy like 20 cent each or now with the current overbidders sometimes 30 cents each.

many of the purests will make nasty remarks about acid cigars. i personally like them as a change of pace and keep them in their own humidifier.

that nice one you made would be the perfect size for me for the dozen at most acids and acid wannabes i keep on hand.

but don't forget chicita banana.

no, no, no, no.

iamsteve: Just add a peice of door gasket ( the thin kind with the two sided tape on he back- picture a hollow rubber tubing with adhesive) to the hinge area at the back and you're all set. All other openings close pretty tight.

PS - I will custom make them from your favorite brand for $200 each...LOL!! not a bad idea for a business though!

Nice Box!

The Natural and Acid boxes are cool but the hinge
deal with the two cheesy nails SUCK. I have two
boxes and both have spilt the wood at the "hinge"
and need repair..

pga- Great idea. The door weather seal is a "p" moulding foam.. looks like the one I most often use. Comes in grey or white. Makes a great airtight seal when compressed and has adhesive on one side. Usually can be bought at hardware store for $5 per 20-30 linear feet.

You're a HUMIDACIDOR building machine!!! Do you smoke that many Acid's and have spare boxes or are you buying the boxes?
