Say! While all this saber rattling has been going on, the news folks have ceased all reporting on the Enron fiasco. Is Ken Lay in jail yet? Have his assets been seized? What about the dotcom crooks? Look over here! Nothin' up muh sleeve! Nothing like a little oily west Texas slight of hand. Hmmmmm, will there be an Oil Tanker full of pardons hastily written as GW leaves office after being thoroughly trounced by the Green Party candidate?

Thanks Spiny! So there IS an investigation and they are doing something. But it is hard to say exactly what. Will Ken Lay spill his guts to stay out of jail? Will ****** Cheney be exposed as the true mastermind? Or will Ken Lay be discovered floating face down in his swimming pool? Only time will tell. And I don't think it will be very soon.

I doubt Ken Lay will see any real jail time. In spite of what his wife says, they still have plenty of cash for those top notch shisters. Appears to me that Skilling and Fastow are the ones that the Fed's want anyway but like Lay, they also stashed enough ill gotten gain away to put up a strong defense.
There is also the issue of campaign contributions made prior to the collapse. Enron was in the top 50 list of doners, and with 74% going to Republicans (94% in 2002), it will be interesting to see just how agressive this adminastration will be in going after them. I believe that if Bush wants to get reelected, he will have no choice but to put some of his friends in the Hoosgow.
This mess isn't going away, It's just been pushed off the front pages.
