c) H.R. 163: By Mr. RANGEL (for himself, Mr. MCDERMOTT, Mr. CONYERS, Mr.LEWIS of Georgia, Mr. STARK, and Mr. ABERCROMBIE): A bill to provide for
the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States,including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland
security, and for other purposes.

I believe every able bodied person should serve in the Military, but we do not need them all and many will find friendly doctors to deem them 4F. We really do not need a draft and I am sure that if it is needed it will be done!

The draft is unnecessary. All four branches of the military do not want it. They say they the best team ever because is all volunteer. The people in, want to be in.
The people wanting the draft are also the ones skewing numbers to show that there is an unfair number of minoritys in the military and especially on the front line when IN FACT it's quite the oposite.

I believe there is a large number of minority folks in the military. In the old days, it meant they were being used as cannon fodder. Today it illustrates the opportunities the military affords ALL members of our society. Black, white, brown, man, woman, if you are good, you will get ahead. It's a beautiful thing and I'm glad I got a chance to see it happen!

No one in the Military wants a draft to be passed. No one wants to sitting next to a guy who doesnt want to be there after you've taken a round. No one wants to leave their trust, honor and safety in the hands of a soldier who has doubts in a combat situation. Being able to be with people(and being one) who will treat my life like their own is what has allowed me (as well as everyone else in Military operations)to do their job. When you are out there, your Team is your life. Period.
