Just heard on the radio California State Senator Tom McClintock (R) discussing the problems in California and the esteemed Gray Davis (Governor) is going to ask the California Highway Patrol to stop truckers and cite them if they are smoking while driving! This is because they are smoking in the work place!!! Give me a break!! McClintock is on George Putnam's radio show discussing the problems of California and Grey Davis, crook and Governor, and how he (Davis and our Democrat influenced Senate) are going to try and bail California out of the so called 34 Billion in debt by not only increasing vehicle taxes by triple and also the ridiculous enforcement of smoking in the work place!

I almost ate my cigar (HDM Maduro Robusto) while listening to this further injustice in California!

What makes a somewhere a workplace vs. a non workplace? I would say it is if you are earning a wage. Therefore if a trucker gets pulled over they should tell the cop they are not getting paid for this run, hence they are not working, and the officer will not be able to issue a ticket.

Sounds like the his honor the govenor doesn't have enough to do. I hate to think the CHP would be chicken enough to enforce such nonsense. If they are maybe you could tell them you were on break.

Maybe Rayder could speak to this situation, as I am not sure it is something enforceable at this time or it is proposed by our "wonderful"(barf) governor!

Last summer I asked a California Highway Patrol officer how come it seemed to me that drivers are getting worse, more dangerous, stupider than I remember in the past. How come I don't see more of these morons being ticketed? He told me they would need three to four times more C.H.P. officers than are employed just to enforce the Motor Vehicle Codes, forget about all other duties as well.

I don't think drivers have a lot to worry about with this one. What bothers me is the willingness of this polititian to try to impose his standards of behavior on the electorate, and whats' next on his agenda.Check out his campaign contribution records and if you live in his district forward the information to local media.Like always, follow the money. And this from a Republican, the party that wants less government in your life.Just lie often and repeatedly and a certain per cent of the people will believe you.

What's the difference between a prostitute and a polititian? A prostitute won't take your check.

ken9810, back up a second buddy. You read it wrong.

The republican was speaking about Davis(a democrat) imposing this rediculous law on truckers. Not the way you just said.

Read the post again and then lets see if you start backpedaling on your comments.

I bet now that you see its a Democrat that is doing it you will agree with him, right?

And, what lies are you speaking of? Give me some examples. I know of ZERO lies comming from Republicans, the Democrats are the experts at Deception.

E-Chick, I'm with you on this one with a home office as I'm sure several others are. Hmmm sounds like a classic case of another liberty being stripped away! Have a cigar smoking friend that owns a clothing company that says the whole US will be smoke free in 10 yrs. What's next? Wine..

Yep,I read too fast. But I have no more regard for polititians of either party than I do for a pimp, crack peddler,used-car saleman, etc."Republicans don't lie..",I about wet myself laughing at that one. When a polititian opens their mouth they are lying before the first word is heard.

Mag ... a word to the wise, as they say ....

It's highly unlikely that anyone here is more conservative or tends to vote Republican more than I ... but even I am not willing to say that everything from the mouths of Republicans is truth ... I doubt one would even have to reach as far back as Nixon to get you backing up a bit on that that bold statement ... but to be less than surprisingly candid about it, ol' Tricky ****** could and did lie with the best of 'em ...

SteveS, I understand where you are coming from. And I am not naive enough to believe that every word spoken is absolutely true from ANY administration.

But so far I dont know of any outright lies or attempted deceptions as of yet. There may be something that will eventually suface though. Who knows?

Until there is a reason not to believe what this administration says. I will trust GWB and his cabinet of secretaries.

I still chalenge ken9810 to let us in on just ONE of the lies he is talking about.

Been all over the net. Best I could find on the subject was the following.

http://www.ooida.com/Special_reports/Truckers_burned_up.htm

Appears to be a shortage of hard evidince that this actually occured.
