i have found the easiest and cheapest way to ship 3 or 4 cigars from one of us to another, trade, or football pool, or whatever.

shipping tubes can be purchased very cheap at office depot or staples, etc.they come in 2" x 24" and a few larger rounds. cut off what you need, tape the ends shut and ship them first class.

shipping USPS priority mail is the way to go imho. It gets the smokes to the other end much faster, and the smokes don't sit in the USPS system longer than necessary, and in extremely hot weather, or cold, this is important. plus you can get a tracking number, which is also important. the extra cost is worth it, it isn't substantial

Thanks Rick. What is your preffered packing of 5 or more stix?

I re-use small boxes if they are in good condition. Even ones with all the smiley faces. Just make sure to remove all traces of the old addresses and postage. Make my own shipping label in 'MS Word', print it, fold it double, cut it and tape it over the area where the other shipping labels were.

Even been know to reuse old Priority boxes.

I already ship most of my smokes using tubes unless I had a box laying around. I'm sure some of you received them this way. It works well...unless the inspector opens one end and doesn't tape it back. My bro got his this way, but luckily no smokes were missing. They/someone opened it and just put the cap on w/o taping it back.

USPS will send you the boxes, tape, labels, confirmation slips all free of charge.Just go to www.USPS.com and place an order, usually takes a while to get the order though.

Also you can print out labels with postage(using credit card)or without postage at:

https://sss-web.usps.com/ds/jsps/index.jsp

Delivery confirmation is free if you print out with prepaid postage.

USPS Priority cassette mailers and peanuts. Good for up to twelve cigars depending on size. I always make sure I fill the box regardless of the number of sticks owed. Why ship extra peanuts? LOL.

yeah, then there's shipping to people over seas on military bases... You have to "disguise" the true contents and can't say cigars inside. I was recently instructed to deliberately deceive my government by one suce miscreant on this very board! So I labled the box "extra small condems" and shipped it!! :-) Let me know when you get um Bruce! hehehe

***THREADJACK*** (but in keeping with the 'SHIPPING TIP theme):

I need a different kind of shipping tip. How the heck do I send Tequilla (you know, the kind with the worm in the bottle) to my bro in Florida? He bought it in Meh-hee-ko and left it here. USPS won't ship it. Not even by ground. I've tried.

:(

Outstanding idea, God Rick, you do so much better giving your cigar wisdom, rather than your political veiws.

We get wine sent to us via UPS. USPS never likes to send liquids. Fed Ex is sometimes cheaper than UPS. Won't sent cigars that way though.

USPS priority boxes covered with mailing paper. Smiley faced bags and peanuts. $1.65 or less for 1-4 cigars. Any more than that, I send regular priority mail.

Thanks for the tips...

:)

I figured that if USPS wouldn't do it, nobody would. But, where there's a will, there's a way!

Many USPS boxes are free at the post office.
I have used the ones that are made for VHS Cassettes. They work great.

Fed Ex also has free boxes and you can send them via any shipper you desire. The boxes can get large enough to send me hundreds of cigars... or some other destination.
