I got a 5 pack of Cupido Criollo Commandant and I swear I can taste (very distinctly) sugar in the wrapper? Has anyone else experienced this? It wasn’t advertised as a flavored cigar. I know some manufactures use sugar in the curing process… I like the smoke, but can’t abide the sugar aftertaste from the wrapper…

Does Cbid take cigars back? I had ordered a 5 pack before and thought I didn’t get them, they showed up, but I ordered another because the first hadn’t arrived yet. Can I ship the second 5 pack back?

Robby, smoked a cupido criollo campana a week ago and definitely picked up a sugary note.....not near as bad as a Baccarat (God, I admitted to that!!!), but, none the less, it was subtly sweet.

Let me know what you'd be willing to part with :-) I have 9 left, I may want to keep them, but may be pursuaded to give um up. Like I said, I actually think they're good smokes, I just don't understand that sugar taste.

i once bought 2 cigars at a store in vegas. they were called vegas something. turns out after the cigar was rolled, they sprayed it with sugar water. as soon as i put the cigar in my mouth, that sugar sweet was evident. taking about 3 puffs on the first one was all i needed to throw them both away.

When you first get them the sugar and cedar is very strong. After 6 months or so, they really smooth out. Give 'em some time.

Never tried the Commandant but the other sticks are in my regular rotation.. Great smoke.. good $$

The Cupido Criollo Campanas definitely have a sweetened head. Your taste buds are not lying to you. Whether it is sugarwater, Splenda, or glycerin, don't know, but doubt it's honey which is too hard to work with and has a distinctive taste and smell. I have a box of Campanas mellowing out and have gone thru that many in the past. Pretty good smoke for the money you get 'em for on CBid.

I had a couple campanas in the humi and was in the mood tonight. I got these in trade (thanks Jamie) and they must have had some good rest. No sugar taste on the wrapper at all. Lit up nice and smooth ahhhhhh. I was put off by the shape when I first smoked one. Been smoking a lot of box press lately. Felt very natural today. Burned nice and even. All the criollos I've smoked have a characteristic sweetness. This was light, nice. About have way she started revving! Oh yeah, there's power there! cherry and a little cedar. Then it hit me: IT'S A CHERRY PEG LEG! Kinda like the difference between Coke and Mr. Pibb.

Not sure, but if you haven't tried the Toro Negro, you should. It is in my opinion, the best Cupido. Much different flavor, more spice, good draw, a very nice cigar.

The Corto is shaped like a baseball bat with a nipple on the foot!. I don't like that particular shape. In recommend the Campana or the Commandante. I have not had the Commemorative. I'm hoping that's a torpedo. Toro Negro is nice! GOBP- that you Robby?

I just got some commemoratives. They are shaped as you described the corto (assuming I was sent the right ones). I haven't tried them yet to assertain flavor. There often seems to be a lack of description for shaped cigars. I can think of at least three distinct shapes that tend to be called perfecto, and the corto/commemerative is one (different sizes maybe?). I would consider it more of a figurado. Definitely not a torpedo though.
