Interesting! In communities with a large military presence the lack of tax revenue is always a divisive issue. I guess it will be more so now. Perhaps Mr. Bush wants to be known as the EDUMACATION President. Bad move GW.

Just read your link Homebrew. I think the Libertatrians are begging the question. They are kind of off point. For instance: India and Pakistan have weapons of mass destruction. BUT they are not likely to sponser terrorists in the near future.

if you think bush and his family are not racists, research why his family prevented his marriage to his first love.

instead they chose a woman who had already killed someone, albeit by an accident. nice family, and such great parents to have raised such charming young ladies.

if my kids turned out like his, i would be ashamed of myself for not doing my only real job during their upringing, parenting.

Ski, what in the hell makes you think this "war" is about oil? We've already got oil! Most of ours is capped-off or untapped!

Why don't you say that this "war" is about sand or burkas or some other dumb remark. I've NEVER heard anyone say that this is about oil! This is about disposing a thug that nobody else dares take down. Just like Slobodan Milosevic, no one came to the aid of that country, and without the US they'd STILL be carving each other up!

Because that would make it OK to oppose any action, and it makes Bush look foolish.
If the war were about ridding the world of an international threat who refuses to abide by UN resolutions, then it is tougher to oppose the Bush agenda.
The professors heart is in the right place, but his anti-bush-at-all-costs justification clouds his vision of reality.

Saying this war is about oil makes a little more sense than saying WWII was about beer and saurkraut, but only because some Americans don't like kraut. We could've taken the oil last time around if that's all there was. Even if Bush is overdoing it a little (or a lot), it would be a shame to allow Hussein to continue murdering, raping, and mutilating his citizens and the Kurds, and you know he has plans for his neighbors and Israel. He really should be ousted and if we don't do it, no one will. After he dies, his sons are even worse devils.

I will forgive you this time only for the simple fact that your name ends in ski....If this is your real last name? As far as my given name ending in ski...I am very proud of the fact that I am of a German Polish heritage and able to live in the United States with all the freedom that I have. I am also proud of our President for taking the stand he is taking. This should have been done along time ago. We just now finally got a man in office with the b@lls to do something about it. Wonder what you would do in his situation?? Be humorous??? We have had the greatest attack on American soil in history. Many innocent, underserving people lost their lives. Instead of sitting back and throwing stick and stones, enlist your A$$ and make a difference!! As for me, I tried and I am too damn old. So, I am proudly backing my husband and all the rest of the men and women who are willing to sacrafice their lives and praying everyday that they all will come home safe to their families and friends to enjoy the rest of their FREE lives here in America!! I just hope that GWB can walk away from this presidencey knowing he was behind NUKING that low life and finally giving everyone the freedom they deserve!!

Why doesn't someone read the article Rick posted before they start talking $hit. GWB is going to cut Impact Aid, which gives aid to school districts around large military installations in order to make up for the drastically lowered tax collections since the military doesn't contribute tax dollars. But since no one gives a f*ck about educating our servicemen and servicewomen's children just keep arguing... all very "humorous"...

this is in fact Interesting... especially when the STATE'S are to do the Funding of the Local School Districts "Thus from From Federal Funding going to the States and then Dispursed to the Schooling... So lets dig a little deeper and see who really is cutting the Schools Short?? What ever happening to the Casino Boats and Lotto's going into Schools??? that was the major Drive for the American People to Jump on and Vote OK to have Lottery and then Casino Boats came allong??? Lining Whos Pockets with the CASH?? not the schools because they have to merge with other schools to stay alive.. and with that Many have to Cut out Acedemic Programs to try and stay alive still.... and under Budget... Whos Budget?? STATE FUNDED Budgets

Under Mr. Bush's budget proposal, Impact Aid would continue for youngsters whose parents live on a military base, but not for those whose families live off base. This is a specious distinction that does not take into account the overall deficit in tax revenues and the special needs of military youngsters.

as for slamming it towards the military members the Author of this Line was looking to bleed the hearts of whomever would listen and feel sorry for the Military and be pissed at Bush for it... in the Above it says On Base/Off Base... why? because off base housing members get a bigger take then those who live on base... and any military member will vouch for that happening... and the way I see this is how Bush laid it out... knowing this is what is the guidlines and appropriating the cuts that way....
I love how some just cut into what they think people should hear to get there point across.. a play on Words and people have Strokes over IT.....

I have to say, that is a completely incoherent response.

The article makes such a simple point, draws on a simple and indisputable fact, and the extreme lengths and stretches of logic you go to in order to defend Bush pretty much says it all.

Face it, usahog: deep down, Bush couldn't give a **** about working class people, and that includes people on/off military bases. Why this isn't obvious--with all the tax cut b.s. and so on--I will never know.

I agree with John, I have no clue what you were trying to say Hog...

I'm not claiming that the article is laying out all the details, but from what it says, military children who live off base as well as all the other non-military children who live near installations are going to loose their already miniscule funding. So unless I'm missing something I guess I'm glad to hear that your BLIND devotion to GWB is just that...

And last I heard the military was a federal entity so why should the STATE schools have to suffer and make up for the tax differential caused by the federal level? If the lotteries are forced to make up for it then where will the parks and rec as well as other organizations get there money that they currently recieve from the lotteries?

You can't expect millions of dollars to be cut and not have any adverse effects, this time it happens to be children who can't even fight it...

The majority of enlisted men, with families, living off base, are according to statistic generated by the GAO, still under the poverty level. And they get,"a bigger take," than those on base??????

another thing also on the Poverty level... you are correct.. nobody said you were going to get rich joining the Military... but there are allot of Liberal thinkers out there "think that the Military is paid to much" most of them are the first one's to call GWB a Liar... for reading into what they want to read on this issue....
