Do you one better: I like Vanilla Coke.

Extra sweetness is good with most cigars.

Thanks Charlie. Guess I should have mentioned that I rarely drink pop. Any others?

Coffee. Starbucks not Maxwell House. Good coffee is very complementary to a cigar.

I agree with coffee. Large with 2 creams, and a Nestor Reserve Box Pressed Toro, Like having a chocolate bar melt in your mouth, lots of cocoa taste.

Coffee, definitely coffee. A good Costa Rican or Kona Peaberry are usually my favorites.

Cappuccino or regular German Coffee what a delight. Starbucks would be my second choice.

I have to second the Vanilla Coke Suggestion...I prefer to make my own however...somtimes a little more vanilla is in order, or sometimes a little less...Depends on the cigar.

Fruit juices ... they go extremely well with cigars, and help cleanse the palate!

OK, coffee drinkers. Who has had coffee and chicory (New Orleans is known for this)? And, if you have, do you like it? And, what brand have you had?

Guys from Louisiana are not allowed to answer this!

(I'm going somewhere with this.)

Good old H2O. Helps clean the palate but doesn't take away from the cigar.

Coffee. I like it hot and strong and black. I like it good, for me that rules out Starbucks.

A cup of tea is nice sometimes.
Fruit juice goes good if you're in the mood. Sometimes I squeeze a lemon or a lime into a glass of water.

I agree with efm, good coffee and starbucks don't go together. I like Peet's but prefer to brew my own. I'm getting closer to pulling the trigger on a home espresso machine, that is the best accompaniment to a good cigar!!

Gotta respectfully disagree on the Starbucks thing. In Memphis people think good coffee comes in the biggest container for the least money. I have Starbucks delivered. I have, on occasion, had good local stuff other places than here. Some I have found wanting include: Gloria Jeans, Gevalia, and Green Mountain. The Roasterie in KC makes decent whole bean Joe. I will post a new thread on Misc. board about this.

When it warms up, or maybe before, try some lightly sweetened (I use Splenda) *iced* coffee with a generous splash of condensed milk. Great with hearty cigars.

I always enjoy a big cup of hot tea, brewed strong with loose leaves. Breakfast blends are good as are any other robust black teas such as Sri Lanka, Assam, Kenya, or if you can find it, Nilgiri. For a real treat, look for Fortnum & Mason's Queen Anne or Royal blends. Stay away from the lighter teas or weakly steeped brews while smoking. I take mine the English way with milk. A nice complement to a cigar.

LT,

Seriously? Never heard of that one. A name like that provokes the imagination, that's for sure. Yow! Reminds me of other bizarre names, such as the old Baby's Bottom brand pipe tobacco--it's slogan was "Smooth as a baby's bottom."

Sonny. Here in Atlanta, Cafe Du Monde is a pretty common brand and even Luzianne makes a coffee with chicory. A little goes a long way. My opiniion is that the chicory takes the bitter edge off coffee and yes it is the perfect compliment to a robust cigar after a meal. (And forget the creme and sugar, drink it natures way. Cafe Du Monde and CAO Xtreme or Cusano Corojo for me!!

........ahhhhhhhh.....so, you know what I'm talkin' about! CDM is exactly where I was going with this. They actually sell it in Atlanta? CDM is a fairly low production coffee. Almost forgot that CDM is an acronym for Cafe' Du Monde.

Well, let me tell you all la10870 has let my "cat out the bag"!

cwilhelmi , I understand you don't like Starbucks, but the Espresso machines they sell are fantastic. I have one and I brew my own Espresso each day. It makes a fantastic companion to a great cigar. I highly recommend it. During Christmas time they go on sale for nearly 1/2 price.

I find DIET Sprite to be the most refreshing without being sugary. It's much better tasting than regular sprite and has a palate cleansing quality which gives each draw an always fresh taste, NOT sticky or sugary as with many other sodas. Result is a pleasant smoke. Which Bill W. would approve of!!!

sonny,

I'm in Phoenix/Scottsdale Arizona.

I've lived in both Tallahassee and Tampa FL and they both had Barq's.

You from LSU? I'm sure that New Orleans is loaded with the stuff because they even state that their roots are from there.

A&W is pretty good too...but can't touch a cold Barq's!

Good Stuff!!!!

But neither Barq's nor A&W can touch IBC Root Beer, or even better, their Cream Soda. Mm Mm good!!
