Dave Matthews Band is really a "throwback" type of band and fits nicely into my music collection.

Anybody here into the old country music such as Hank Williams, The Carter Family (with the Great Mother Maybelle Carter) and George Jones?

Have an old wax lp (many of you will not know what that is) of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recorded in Nashville at the Grand Old Oprey! Great mix of old line country and the Dirt Band. Dirt Band was originated with Jackson Browne and Leon Russel, but they never played on record with them.

Dave Matthews kicks as$.
Bela Fleck, String cheese incident, widespread panic, Phish, on the modern side. Frank Zappa and the Mothers, and Captain Beefheart on the weird side, and John Prine, Iris Demint, and of course, Johnny Cash for the country. I could go on for days :-)

By the way, the Leo Kottke concert was terrific. 2hrs standing up, no break, hilarious stories, and incredible 12-string guitar playing.

i'm sure rod stewart is kind to his folks and feeds the neighborhood cats, and walks little old ladies across the street, but that doesn't mean he can sing the songs on that album. it's way past dodo.

i have a cd with oscar moore, johnny miller, and ????.
care to guess who?

I appreciate the offer ric, but I've got EVERYTHING they've ever done including several bootlegs on MP3.

That's my "other" passion!

Seem to have been blasting a lot of AC/DC and Nelly lately...need to burn some more Godsmack and Disturbed cd's. I've scratched the heck outta 'em.

But, I've a hankering to hear some Skynard and maybe some Scorpions...

Scorpions rock.. Love "winds of change" But lately have been into more singer songwriter music and live versions of groups. Getting back to the basics of what makes me love music so much. Whether it's Jewel or Matchbox 20, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Live, John Mayer, Edwin McCain, Third Day, Pavarotti, or Louis Armstrong.. It's like I saw at Mardi Gras; Music Transcends Life!
